Page One: Secondary Pick 🐝🤫

If your teenager claims they "hate reading," hand them this gripping thriller by acclaimed West Australian author A.J. Betts. Hive introduces us to Hayley, a 15-year-old beekeeper living in a strict, underground society where everyone has a rigid role and curiosity is forbidden. When she discovers a strange drip in a restricted zone, it sparks a dangerous quest for the truth. For secondary students, this fast-paced page-turner is more than just entertainment, it's a powerful exploration of critical thinking, questioning the status quo, and finding the courage to seek answers.

The first book of this incredible duology is on our Library shelves today!

Staff Unite for the Biggest Morning Tea

Our staff room was transformed into a vibrant sea of yellow this week as our team came together to host our own Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, raising just over $1,200 for the Cancer Council!

This morning was deeply personal for the Carey Harrisdale family. We gathered to hear a moving reflection from our own Mrs Katherine Lockwood on her faith journey through cancer, while carrying a shared heart for the recent 2025 Alumni, Tia. Tia’s incredible bravery was recently spotlighted in The West Australian after she helped secure a historic $1 million in funding for WA’s first Adolescent and Youth Cancer Service.

By coming together, this morning tea directly funds support systems such as world-class cancer research, hotlines, or even SunSmart education programs for kids.

This year’s Winter Soirée was a spectacular celebration of weeks of dedicated practice, hard work, and pure musical joy from our talented Primary students.

From our incredible Primary Choir to our youngest, first-time instrumentalists just beginning to hone their craft, every single student handled the packed auditorium like absolute pros. There was a beautiful culture of encouragement on display, with students cheering louder for each other's triumphs than anyone else in the room.

For the families and community members who packed out the crowd, it was a proud reminder of what happens when we give children the space to build resilience, discover their creative voices, and support one another as a team. 👏

It’s completely okay if you don't have everything figured out today.

This verse reminds us that we don't need to carry every worry on our own. When life feels uncertain, we are invited to place our trust in God, knowing that He cares for us.

As a new week begins, may you find moments of peace, strength for the challenges ahead, and confidence in the knowledge that you are deeply loved and cared for.

Acclaimed Authors Visit Carey! 📚✨

Our Primary campus was buzzing with creative energy recently as we welcomed two acclaimed Australian authors to inspire our young writers and readers!

Master storyteller Mark Greenwood took them on a thrilling journey through Australia’s past, breathing new life into legendary tales of Phar Lap and Ned Kelly. Instead of just sharing history, he showed our students how to find it, teaching them to look at the past as a giant puzzle and giving them insider tips to start penning their own adventures.

Literary experiences like these do so much more than entertain; they spark a lifelong love for reading and show our students that their own imaginations have no limits.

Courage isn't about the absence of difficult seasons in life, but having the confidence knowing that we do not face them alone.

True courage grows when we realise that no matter how overwhelming the current feels, we are held, we are protected, and we are accompanied every single step of the way.

Whatever you are facing this week, may you move forward with a brave heart, knowing you do not walk alone.

Carey Students Top the ASX Leaderboard! 📈💼

Our Year 11 Business, Management, and Enterprise students recently put their financial literacy to the ultimate test in the prestigious ASX Schools Sharemarket Game.

Simulating the fast-paced trading world, students used a virtual $50,000 to invest in real listed companies using live ASX market prices. This hands-on challenge pushes students to analyse economic trends, manage risk, and build smart, real-world investment strategies.

Competing against thousands of peers nationwide, our young investors achieved absolutely phenomenal results:

Elijah: Finished 1st in Western Australia and 4th Nationally!

Connor & Zach: Reached the #1 spot during the game, finishing 3rd in the State and 7th Nationally.

We are incredibly proud of the financial savvy and calm decision-making our students showed through real market fluctuations. Seeing our young people develop these sophisticated, practical life skills gives us immense confidence in their bright futures!
