Wash-leading week. Sit on the wash, take your turn on the front, and catch the runs home. 🌊
This is our work together week. Wash-leading is the art of paddling in a bunch: sitting on someone's wash to save energy, taking your turn leading. It is the single biggest free speed in ocean paddling, and with light glassy water all week the triangles run as clean out-and-back loops, so you get to practise wash-lead rotations in a pack rather than grinding alone. Whatever your level, pack paddling makes the sessions more social and a lot more fun.
What's on:
• Mon 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 / L2 · CBD · Swan River
• Mon 5:00 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Hillarys (out-and-back triangle)
• Tue 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Johnston Street Boat Ramp
• Wed 6:00 AM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · CBD · Swan River
• Fri 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Hillarys
• Sat 2:30 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Port Beach
Winds stay light all week, so expect glassy water and standard out-and-back triangles: way out is timed efforts, way home is wash-lead rotations. We confirm conditions on the morning.
Avon Descent is 7 weeks out. Pack skills now pay off all the way to Northam.
Every paddling session is targeted at either L1, L2, L3 and L4, so book the level that fits where you are this week.

Normal week. The benchmark. Clean honest work to see where your fitness sits. 🌊
No tricks this week, no resistor, no gimmicks. Normal is our benchmark week: standard efforts at fixed intensities so you can measure where your form is as we close out the Transmutation block. Hold a steady effort, watch your stroke rate and your pace, and learn something about your own engine. It is also a lovely week to just come down and paddle, because the sessions are simple and everyone can find their own level in them.
What's on:
• Mon 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 / L2 · CBD · Swan River
• Mon 5:00 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Hillarys (Marina north wall)
• Tue 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Johnston Street Boat Ramp
• Wed 6:00 AM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · CBD · Swan River
• Fri 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Hillarys
• Sat 2:30 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Port Beach
A front pushes through early in the week, so Monday's Hillarys triangle could run as a downwind. We confirm the call on the morning.
Avon Descent is 8 weeks out. A clean benchmark week now tells you exactly what to work on through the build.
Every paddling session is published in L1, L2, L3 and L4, so book the level that fits where you are this week.

Resistor week. Load the stroke, hold the power. 🌊
We are into the Transmutation block now, and week 1 is Resistor: strength endurance under load. We put a bit of resistance on the blade through the pyramids and the river grind, then practise holding our power as the legs and lungs start to complain. It is the work that makes the back half of a long paddle feel easy. The Ramon Challenge is on this Saturday morning at Bayswater too, an optional hit-out on the river if you fancy it.
What's on:
• Mon 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 / L2 · CBD · Swan River
• Mon 5:00 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Hillarys (Marina north wall)
• Tue 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Johnston Street Boat Ramp
• Wed 6:00 AM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · CBD · Swan River
• Fri 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Hillarys
• Sat 2:30 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Port Beach
A southwesterly is around early in the week, so Monday's Hillarys triangle may run as a downwind. We confirm the call on the morning.
Avon Descent is 9 weeks out. A strong load week now is exactly what makes the big one feel within reach.

Technique week. Clean catch, low stroke-rate, then we race. 🌊
Week 4 of the monthly cycle is skill consolidation. We pull the volume back a touch, sharpen the catch and the blade path, and roll into the first IOP Winter race on Saturday with fresh legs. Whether you are chasing a result or you just love a Saturday paddle, this is the week to lock the technique in.
What's on:
• Mon 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 / L2 · CBD · Swan River
• Mon 5:00 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Hillarys (Marina north wall)
• Tue 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Johnston Street Boat Ramp
• Wed 6:00 AM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · CBD · Swan River
• Fri 6:00 AM · Technique focus · L1 to L4 · Hillarys
• Sat 2:30 PM · Distance focus · L3 / L4 · Port Beach
Racing this week: IOP Winter Series R1, Saturday 30 May, in and out from Sorrento SLSC. First race of the winter series and totally optional. If you are racing, Friday's low stroke-rate cruise is your tune-up.
Avon Descent is 10 weeks out, so a clean skills week now is money in the bank for the big one.
Every paddling session is published in L1, L2, L3 and L4, so book the level that fits where you are at this week.

Wash-leading week. Sit. Rotate. Chase. 🌊
New session on Monday night at Hillarys! Chase the runs.
Week 3 of the monthly cycle is washleads. Pack paddling, dirty-water catches, rotating cleanly through the lead. We've banked the aerobic work — this is the week we turn it into race speed.
Heads up — IOP Winter R1 is 12 days out (Sat 30 May, Sorrento). Lock the pack skills in now; we'll sharpen next week.
Every paddling session is published in L1 · L2 · L3 · L4 — book the level that fits where you're at this week.
