HOLIDAY READING PHOTO COMPETITION TIME ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“ท

For our first entry, we join our Marketing & Communications officer, Mr. Hobbins, on his road trip up the West Australian coast, pictured here at a shark sanctuary in Nyinggulu, where there were no sharks at the time. ๐Ÿฆˆ

To make up for this, he has brought the first book in his favourite series, 'Into The Wild' (Warrior Cats) by Erin Hunter, which he borrowed from our wonderful school's Information & Innovation Centre.

Mr. Hobbins' favourite thing about this book is that it was one he first read when he was in Year 3 many, many years ago, and he is delighted that so many of our current primary students are reading this exceptional series about community, belonging, and courage (and cats who are also warriors). ๐Ÿฑโ€๐Ÿ‘ค

Is there a better place to read than at the beach? Parents, Staff, Students, let us know:

- Take a photo of you reading on your holidays
- Send it to our Instagram
- Tell us about what you're doing on your holidays and what your favourite thing about your book is.

ISWA-themed goodie bags to be won for best reading location & favourite thing about a book! ๐Ÿฆข

In the last few weeks of term, both of our thoughtful Year 3 classes students took action as part of their Sharing the Planet Unit of Inquiry, partnering with local charity, Care Bags - because children in care matter. ๐ŸŒ

All of our students raised money through doing chores, such as mowing the lawns, taking out the rubbish, etc., and others held bake sales, and some EVEN made the ultimate sacrifice of selling some of their unused Pokรฉmon cards. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

This money was then put into a class fund in order to create care bags to donate to children in need!

Each Care Bag is filled with necessities like clothing, toiletries, and comforting items such as toys or books. These bags send a powerful message to children: You are valued, and you are not alone. ๐Ÿ’—

We're incredibly proud of our Year 3 students for demonstrating empathy and making a tangible difference in our community. ๐Ÿ’›

Well done to all our Swans for another brilliant year of learning here at our International School of Western Australia. ๐Ÿฆข

We'll see you back at the end of July, but for now, rest & unwind on your well-deserved break.

The International Baccalaureate Learner Profile at ISWA ๐ŸŒ

We come to the end of School Year 25/26.

As is tradition in our Primary School, we hold a Learner Profile assembly on the final Friday of term, where we recognise our exemplary Swans for their progress over the year.

At ISWA, learning isn't about results; it's about process. Educating a Global Citizen isn't just ensuring that a student scores well on an exam; it's about raising a person who is internationally-minded, recognises their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, and works to help create a better and more peaceful world. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

To this end, we are guided by the IB Learner Profile, but we'll let our students explain the rest. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

๐ŸŽธ Arts Week at ISWA ๐ŸŽจ

It's tradition at our school that during the last week of the year, we hold a celebration of all things fine art, music and theatre.

This year, we were delighted to welcome visiting artist Natalie Reid to campus for workshops across the year levels. With her, our students explored experimental bookmaking and the creative possibilities of recycled and found materials, creating unique sculptural and narrative works that challenged the boundaries of what a book can be. ๐Ÿ“–

We also held our annual ISWA's Got Talent show, with our Primary & Secondary students showcasing their best dance moves, vocal talent, and instrumental abilities.

Our Secondary School then hosted a student-organised battle of the bands, welcoming bands of various age levels, from Primary, Secondary and even a staff band! All of this was performed with the backdrop of our Year 11 Fine Arts Exhibition.

It's safe to say, the Arts are truly celebrated at ISWA, and our students excel no matter the form or medium. ๐Ÿฆข

The End Of The Beginning ๐Ÿฆข

We proudly present to you, your newest Secondary School Swans!

Although it is just a short walk across campus to our High School, it's a big step for any student of this age to take. We are so confident that these passionate, diverse, and articulate students are more than ready, as proven by the example they have set this year of environmental advocacy, academic diligence, leadership and kindness. ๐ŸŒ

In front of a crowd of our proud parents, each student received their graduating gift as their fellow students spoke of their strengths. There was also time for Lucas and Kendi to be granted the Learner Profile awards for their courage to change the world, one step at a time. ๐Ÿ“–

Afterwards, we gathered for tea, one last time in the Primary Quad. We'll see these students with the big kids next year!

The Primary Performing Arts Festival! ๐ŸŽต

In front of a blockbuster crowd of adoring fans/parents, our risk-taking communicators rose to the occasion and sang, danced, acted and instrumented their hearts out.

From Kindy's adorable song about different noises to the Year 5s self-written eulogy of the 6-7 meme (please. no more.) to the Year 6's emotional rendition of dJo's 'End of the Beginning', this was a real celebration of our Primary Students' growing confidence and performing abilities ๐ŸŽธ

Special thank you to Mrs. Paunoski, Ms. Oceana and Mr. Johnston for choreographing, conducting, and supporting all our young artists on their road to superstardom.

Familar Faces At ISWA ๐ŸŽ“

You may have heard that recently our school added 35 more alumni to our growing association of graduates.

We were thus delighted to be visited on Friday by Rens ('20) and Anna ('19), who popped back in for a chat with our MYP Coordinator, Ms Garrick and our Careers & College Counsellor, Ms Nicholson.

Rens is currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce at ECU, and Anna is undertaking Curatorial Studies at the Anglo American University in Prague. A great example of the variety and global/local journeys available to our graduates! ๐ŸŒ

Great to see you again, Rens and Anna!
