Students from both Prace College campuses came together to participate in the Spiritual Healing Trail led by Indigenous Elder Uncle Trevor Gallagher to mark National Sorry Day last week.
The experience provided students with an opportunity to reflect, learn and deepen their understanding of the history, culture and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Following the excursion, students returned to campus and took part in activities inspired by this year's National Reconciliation Week theme, 'All In', that encouraged thoughtful discussions about reconciliation.
We thank Uncle Trevor Gallagher for sharing his knowledge and wisdom.
Thank you to our students for their respectful engagement throughout this important day of learning and reflection.

Today, Prace College's Mernda Campus welcomed a special visit from the Australian Border Force.
Students had the opportunity to learn about the diverse and rewarding career pathways available within the Australian Border Force, gaining valuable insights into the many roles that help protect and serve our community.
Adding to the excitement, the ABF foster puppies joined the visit for a socialisation session, giving our students the chance to interact with these future working dogs while supporting their important training journey.
A big thank you to the Australian Border Force for sharing their knowledge, experiences, and adorable four-legged trainees with our students!
It was a memorable and engaging day for everyone involved 😊

Check out our on-campus Garden Workshop! 🌿
Recently, a staff member from Bunnings Warehouse Australia Thomastown ran a hands‑on gardening workshop for us, generously donating plants and materials to help our students establish a new vegetable garden.
During the workshop, students learnt how to improve soil with compost, plant seedlings and bulbs, and correctly mulch, fertilise, and water garden beds!
We planted a mix of vegetables, herbs, and flowers including broccoli, garlic, peas, spring onions, parsley, coriander, sage, violas, and daffodils.
One student showed great initiative by designing and building a trellis for the peas to grow on 🌱
This session was part of our learning in Work Related Skills where students practised key employability skills such as following instructions, communicating effectively in a team, and taking initiative to solve problems and complete tasks.
A big thank you to Belinda from Bunnings Thomastown for her kindness and generosity, and all students and staff who got involved.
We look forward to using our home‑grown produce in the café once the plants are ready! 🤩

We are pleased to introduce Prace Child Safety Easy Read documents, now available on our website.
Easy Read materials support people with intellectual disability, those who prefer plain language, and individuals who speak English as an additional language.
At Prace, we work with people from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of literacy and English proficiency. By providing key information in this format, we help ensure that more people can understand their rights, responsibilities, and the support available to them.
We encourage you to explore these new Easy Read documents on our website and share them with others who may benefit.

The day was an outstanding mix of impressive leadership, teamwork, participation, and reflection.

As part of their Literacy and Work Related Skills, Prace College VCE Vocational Major students recently enjoyed a visit from Thomastown Fire Brigade!
"[They] visited us and really informed us a lot about fires and being a fire fighter. They came here to teach us about fire safety in the home and informed us about hazards in the household such as charging your phone next to your pillow. Don't do it!
The fire trucks were an experience that everyone should encounter. We got to hold the hose and try on the uniforms as well as use the jaws of life, which was so heavy and we do not know how they carry that around. In order to be a fire fighter, you have to be very fit." - Prace College VCE Vocational Major students
Thank you Thomastown Fire Station for the exciting and informative visit 😊
