A good golf swing isn't about holding the clubface square down the target line.

With a proper grip, the club naturally releases and the toe rotates over through impact. Fighting this natural motion can leave the face open and cause slices.

Golf is a two-target game.

The ball's target is the flag.

From the top of the backswing, focus on swinging the club down and out toward the ball. When the club releases naturally, the ball will launch toward its target.
