Our Junior School community is still buzzing after the inaugural Year 5 Battle of the Bands competition. 🥁🎸
Throughout Term 2, students engaged in a dynamic and deeply collaborative curricular ensemble learning experience, where a highly differentiated program empowered every child to take on an active and meaningful role, regardless of musical experience or background.
A true triumph of student agency, the event was filled with energy, pride and joy, resulting in a memorable and musically rich experience for all.

Cintra takes House glory 🏆
Our Years 3–6 House Athletics Carnival brought out the best of our Junior School last week. 📸

In an outstanding achievement, our School has finished 2nd overall across the ACS Athletics Carnival this week, despite being the smallest school in the association.
A huge congratulations to our Boys’ Athletics team on winning the Overall Boys Championship.
Our Girls’ team also impressed, finishing 4th overall and continuing their strong improvement.
A special congratulations to Cooper B (11H), who broke the ACS 200m record with an incredible time of 22.37 seconds, becoming the only athlete at the carnival to set a new ACS record.
These results are a testament to the commitment and school spirit shown by our athletes, coaches and families throughout the season.
Congratulations to everyone involved on an outstanding ACS Athletics campaign! 👌
Little legs with a large effort at our ELC - Year 2 Cross Country fun run🏃 👟
Kenise Tong leads data at St Michael’s 📊 - the person quietly powering the systems that help teachers, students, and families thrive. Her impact spans teaching, learning, enrolments, and operations, but it’s the human instinct she brings to all of it that sets her apart.
Ask her what the job is really about, and she won’t say data. She’ll say people.
Her story is one of resilience, cultural identity and a deep belief that belonging is something schools must actively create not just hope for. And having lived it herself, she knows exactly what it takes.

What does life after school look like? Last Wednesday night, our Years 9–12 students got to find out — straight from the people living it.
Presentations from Ambulance Victoria, AIFS, MedEntry and Melbourne Victory Football Club offered honest, real-world perspectives.
Our alumni panel reminded students just how many directions a St Michael’s education can take you.
This year’s panellists included:
🎨 Chris Watts (2010) — Archibald Prize finalist
🫀 Nicki Carter (2011) — Cardiologist, Royal Children’s Hospital
🚒 Zak Bahramis (2007) — Firefighter, Fire Rescue Victoria
💼 Jack Austin (2010) — Founder of Canary B
📸 Joanna Margiolis (2014) — Graphic Designer & Photographer, Netball Australia
🩺 Sienna Di Natale (2020) — Doctor of Medicine candidate, University of Melbourne
Evenings like this remind us that careers are rarely linear — and that the most valuable thing we can give our students is exposure to the breadth of what’s possible.
A huge thank you to our Careers Counsellor Belinda Geddes for bringing such a diverse and wonderful evening together. 💙
What to expect in Prep - Kirsten James has led Prep learning at St Michael’s for 31 years. Alongside colleagues, each year her goal is simple: build confidence, happiness and strong foundations.
It’s why many of St Michael’s top VCE achievers started at our School in the ELC or Prep.
