🎤 Mentoring Session Recap: Structuring the Right Product Thinking

In this session with Ms. Cindy Quynh Pham, the team focused on sharpening PRD thinking and clarifying the direction of the MentorME product.

A key shift in perspective was that data is not the starting point of a product. Instead, the product must first define how users interact with the system - through forms, integrations, or APIs - and only then can meaningful data be generated and structured.

The session also introduced a foundational B2B framework:

User - Decision Maker - Payer

These are often different stakeholders:

🔸 Users operate the system daily
🔸 Decision Makers assess ROI and adopt the solution
🔸 Payers fund the product, sometimes independently of usage

Designing with all three in mind is essential for building a viable product.

The solution was also reframed as a lightweight CRM, focused on managing prospects, tracking engagement, and supporting decision-making through structured data and scoring.

Finally, three possible business directions were outlined:

🔸 Internal tool for MentorME
🔸 Event-based platform offering
🔸 University partnership model

💡 Core takeaway: Every insight should lead to a concrete next step. Define the action, expected outcome, owner, and deadline to ensure progress turns into ex*****on.

A great presentation is never just about great slides - it's about creating connection, credibility, and impact.

In our recent session, Mr. Lucas shared valuable insights on what makes presentations memorable and persuasive:

✨ The presenter should always be the main character; slides are there to support the story.

✨ Effective communication combines Ethos (credibility), Pathos (emotion), and Logos (logic).

✨ Great storytelling can start from personal experiences, real-world observations, data-driven insights, or future vision scenarios.

✨ Present with purpose. Focus on the value you bring to your audience, not on yourself.

✨ Confidence comes from preparation, practice, and genuinely believing in what you are saying.

With 7 years of experience in creative leadership, brand communications, and strategic marketing, Lucas brings a powerful combination of storytelling expertise and community understanding. Currently pursuing a Master of Marketing at Macquarie University, Lucas understands firsthand the journey, aspirations, and challenges of international students.

As our Brand Voice Custodian, Lucas will lead MentorME's communications strategy, creative campaigns, and community growth initiatives, helping us amplify our impact and reach.

👏 Mr. Oliver (Thanh Long Vu) joins us as Academic Manager for the MentorME Fellowship.

Oliver brings deep expertise in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Machine Learning, alongside a strong commitment to student success and mentorship. As an incoming Master’s scholar in Machine Learning at the University of Cambridge, he will bring strong academic rigour and global perspectives to MentorME. He will lead the academic vision and curriculum development of our fellowship program, strengthen partnerships with universities and industry, and help shape the next generation of career-ready international talent.
