The team at Instituto Cervantes Sydney had the pleasure of attending the Children's International Film Festival Australia (CHIFF), a wonderful celebration of children's cinema featuring inspiring stories from around the world.
It was a fantastic opportunity to experience a day filled with imagination, creativity, and learning, while celebrating the power of film to connect cultures and spark curiosity in young audiences 🍿

🎬 Yesterday marked the opening of the Spanish Film Festival in Australia, and Instituto Cervantes Sydney was honoured to be part of this celebration of Spanish-language cinema.
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with film enthusiasts, industry professionals, and members of the Spanish-speaking community as we welcomed another edition of a festival that brings some of the finest productions from Spain and Latin America to Australian audiences.
We are proud to continue our collaboration with the Spanish & Latin American Film Festival and to support initiatives that promote cultural diversity and the richness of stories told in Spanish.

Ciclo de Cine Español 🎬
Llegamos al final de nuestro Ciclo de Cine Español con la proyección de "La lengua de las mariposas", una de las películas más emblemáticas del cine español contemporáneo.
Ganadora del Premio Goya al Mejor Guion Adaptado y nominada a 13 Premios Goya, esta emotiva película dirigida por José Luis Cuerda y basada en relatos de Manuel Rivas nos traslada a la Galicia de 1936. A través de la entrañable relación entre Moncho, un niño que comienza a descubrir el mundo, y su maestro Don Gregorio, la película reflexiona sobre la amistad, la educación, la libertad y la pérdida de la inocencia en los días previos al estallido de la Guerra Civil española.

Spanish Film Series 🎬
Join us for the final screening of our Spanish Film Series with "Butterfly's Tongue" (La lengua de las mariposas), one of the most acclaimed and moving films in contemporary Spanish cinema.
Winner of the Goya Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and nominated for 13 Goya Awards, this moving film, directed by José Luis Cuerda and based on stories by Manuel Rivas, takes us to rural Galicia in 1936. Through the touching relationship between young Moncho and his teacher Don Gregorio, the film explores friendship, education, freedom, and the loss of innocence on the eve of the Spanish Civil War.

Aitana organiza fiestas una y otra vez en la azotea de la Gran Vía madrileña con la esperanza de que Cleo, la mujer de la que sigue enamorada, vuelva a aparecer. Una historia sobre el deseo, la nostalgia y la búsqueda de un amor que parece resistirse al olvido.
