When is a fix not a fix?

When it just plasters over the cracks. Hiding the problems for a little while doesn't make them go away.

If you want to be free of your problems and live a happy healthy life in the future, you need a real fix for the real problem.

It's amazing what work will do to you. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes less so.

People will sell you this lie.

Special chairs, back straps, courses, tutorials, it's all predicated on a lie; you can have a perfect posture, and that such a thing even exists.

Pelvic tilt is always called out, for example, but it isn't necessarily bad. Plenty of top level sprinters have it, are they in need of a correction?

Equally how we sit is demonised, but it's good to sit lots of different ways.

That's not to say posture can't contribute to problems, or that we can't change it to improve things, but don't go chasing after an ideal that you don't need.

What do you have left if you can't enjoy the little things, the big things and everything in between?

The life you once had is gone if you give in to pain. But you don't have to.

Think about times where you were close to throwing in the towel but didn't and were glad for it. Trust me when I say your journey out of pain is the same.

Don't throw in the towel.

Sure I don't see the inner workings, but not one talks about it either.

Truly customised programmes, workouts and even individual exercises; that's what makes the difference.

Rehab shouldn't be a quick fling.

It shouldn't be "til death do us part" either. But it should keep going until the work is actually done.

You wouldn't want the plumber coming round every day, charging a call out fee, even after he's fitted your bathroom. But you wouldn't want him to leave without connecting all the pipes either. This seems to be the 2 paths most pain rehabilitation services follow though.

Don't accept a half done job. You wouldn't in your house, why in your body?

It's important to be able to do this.

I'll admit I was wrong in using this analogy. The intention is to encourage action, but it could do just the opposite.

Is it still bad for you? Yes. Should you do something about it? Yes.

But the damage isn't permanent.
