In Colombia, football is more than a sport - it's part of the national identity. 🇨🇴 When the national team takes the field, the entire country seems to turn yellow. Yellow jerseys fill the streets, bars, parks, and homes. Football in Colombia is about coming together. Friends and families gather to watch the match, share food and drinks, celebrate, and support the team through every moment. One of the most memorable moments came when Colombia qualified for the 2014 World Cup. The celebrations spilled into the streets as millions of Colombians came together to share a moment they would never forget. And whether the team wins or loses, one phrase remains: con la fe intacta - never stop believing. Because in the end, football is as much about community and culture as it is about the game itself - and understanding the people behind them helps us feel part of something bigger than ourselves. ⚽🌎 ¡Colombia, sí se puede!

Amazing result and victory for the Australian Socceroos 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 in their first match against Turkey. Incredible defense against strong pressure from Turkey's superstar strikers, but we were able to hold on and counter-attack quickly to score two amazing goals!! We're ready to take on USA next match.
In Brazil, football isn't just watched - it's lived. 🇧🇷
What does that look like in practice? Bandouk gives us a local perspective. What many people don't realize is that football culture can look very different depending on where you are in the country. In some places, match day feels almost like a carnival, filled with music, drums, and celebration. In others, local traditions and rhythms give the game a completely different atmosphere.
One thing, however, remains the same: football is woven into everyday life.
It's played on beaches, in streets, at schools, and anywhere people can find space for a game. In fact, football has become so deeply rooted in Brazilian culture that it has even shaped the way people speak.
After Brazil's defeat in the 1950 World Cup final, the expression complexo de vira-lata was coined to describe a feeling of national inferiority. Decades later, after the famous 7-1 loss to Germany, Brazilians responded in a different way - turning the result into a humorous expression used whenever life gets difficult.
That resilience, creativity, and ability to adapt are qualities that can be seen not only in Brazilian football, but in Brazilian culture as a whole.
Because in the end, football is as much about community and culture as it is about the game itself - and understanding the people behind them helps us feel part of something bigger than ourselves. ⚽🌎

There's something undeniably dramatic about German that makes even the simplest concepts feel like a formal announcement, while the same idea in French or Italian sounds like a casual conversation over coffee.😄
This kind of comparison is a reminder that every language carries its own rhythm. Spanish, English, Italian, French, and German each bring something distinct to the table, and hearing them side by side makes you appreciate just how much culture is baked into the way we speak. 🌍✨

Congratulations to Nash Camilleri, who made his seniors debut (1st division) for the Werribee Districts Football Club (AFL). Nash is proudly sponsored by Berlitz Australia and we're so impressed to see him quickly progress into the top tier after performing strongly early in the season. He played a big part in the team's massive 51-point victory on the weekend. Werribee has one of the strongest football clubs in the state.
We look forward to watching him continue his fine form for a successful season ahead.
In roles built around people, one thing becomes clear very quickly: every person brings something different into the conversation. A different perspective, a different story, something uniquely their own.
Culture isn’t only experienced through art or history. It lives in language, in spontaneous interactions, in the way people express themselves in everyday moments. It may bring people together, but it’s language that allows you to explore what’s underneath, to understand not just what someone says, but who they are.
Language becomes the key to what isn’t immediately visible. The stories, the nuances, the small details that are only shared when real communication happens.
And that’s where discovery begins.
Not just of places or cultures, but of people. Of what makes them different, what drives them, what makes each interaction meaningful.
