This year’s retreat took us down south and what a way to arrive on Country.

As we gathered on the Land of the Wadi Wadi People, Layne and Broc from Kugang Djarmbi welcomed our team with a grounding on Country and a Smoking Ceremony, where we had the privilege of learning to spin fire.

We wrapped up the experience atop Geera (Mt Keira), where Layne and Broc shared local stories and pointed out culturally significant sites across the Illawarra. An incredible reminder of the deep history held in this place.

Katherine Bennell-Pegg made history in becoming first professional astronaut to officially represent Australia.
