🎵 WORLD MUSIC DAY IN KILLARNEY HEIGHTS – SUNDAY 21 JUNE 🎵
Just 2 weeks to go until World Music Day at KHPS!
Join us from 10am–4pm for live music across 3 stages, rides, games, fresh food stalls, and the NEW Battle of the Bands from 1pm–3pm.
🎸 Battle of the Bands
Come and support talented young musicians aged 12-18 competing for a recording session with Home on the Range studios, paid gigs from Buckettys, rehearsal studio packages with Evergreen Music and Ear Candy Music, and a singing masterclass with Emma Hamilton.
Judges include singer Emma Hamilton, Michael Regan MP, Candy Bingham Deputy Mayor, and Ms Tegg KHPS Principal.

D’où vient la Fête des mères ?
Les festivités existaient déjà dans l’Antiquité. En effet, les Grecs célébraient Rhéa, la mère des dieux et les Romains rendaient hommage aux mères de familles (les « matronas »), lors de fêtes appelées « Matronalia » ou « Matralia ». Ces journées étaient célébrées lors du printemps, le mois de la fertilité.
Au XVIe siècle, les Anglais fêtaient le « Mothering Sunday » (le dimanche des mères) et les Américains le « Mother’s Day » au XXe siècle.
En France, c’est à Lyon, en 1918 que la première journée des mères est instaurée pour rendre hommage aux mères et aux épouses qui ont perdu leurs fils et leur mari pendant la Première Guerre Mondiale. Elle a été propagée par les soldats américains.
Puis, le maréchal Pétain, le 25 mai 1941, inscrivit cette journée nationale des mères dans le calendrier.
La fête des mères a été officiellement instaurée après la Seconde Guerre Mondiale par Vincent Auriol, président de la République, avec le texte de loi du 24 mai 1950.
