🚇 Our toddlers enjoyed a fantastic excursion today! We walked to Macquarie University Metro Station, caught the Metro to Tallawong and back, then walked back to the centre.

The children had a great time exploring their local community, learning about public transport and practising safe walking skills. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and excellent listening throughout the day! 🌟

Another Recycling Excursion for our preschoolers! They’ve gotten the hang of it now, regularly heading down to the recycling station and donating the bottles for some spare change 😊 They also enjoy heading to woolies afterwards, to collect that money themselves.

Thank you to our preschoolers, helping to clean up their community and understand the importance of sustainability and keeping green ♻️

🎉 Dragon Boat Festival Celebration 🐉

This week, our Goodstarters have been celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival through a variety of engaging and hands-on cultural experiences.

Our children enjoyed participating in a range of exciting activities, including:

🚣 Creating dragon boats using light clay.
🥟 Making traditional sticky rice dumplings with bamboo leaves.
🏠 Exploring a themed home corner featuring felt yum cha and rice dumplings.
🌊 Taking part in a fun boat race in the water, using paper boats lovingly made with their families at home and brought in for the special event.

These experiences provided wonderful opportunities for children to learn about the traditions and significance of the Dragon Boat Festival while developing their creativity, collaboration, and sense of cultural awareness.

A big thank you to all our families for their support and involvement. We had an amazing time celebrating this special cultural event together!

☁️🔢 Our toddlers enjoyed exploring a fun counting activity today! Using their problem-solving skills, the children counted and placed stones onto the matching numbered clouds. This hands-on experience supported early numeracy, number recognition, and counting skills while learning through play.

We received some great books from The Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The best way to celebrate Reconciliation Week.

This week in the Toddler Room, we continued our Reconciliation Week experiences by creating an island-themed sensory tray. The children explored blue goop as the ocean, sand, stones, logs, sea creatures, and wooden trees through imaginative and sensory play.

As we learn about the Dharug seasons, we discussed how we are currently in Bayin Dyarra, the wet and cooler season, and made connections to the importance of water and the natural environment.

Look what our rooms have been doing for Reconciliation Week!! Full of fun and great learning opportunities!!

Gula Room: A nice cultural corner with sensory toys and natural materials to boost baby’s sensory exploration!! They also created Torres Islander Flag with the young children together!

Wombat Room: It’s the season of Bayin Dyarra (wet and cool) in Dharug Language. Children have been learning the weather from many fun activities. Creating rain display with recycled materials is definitely one of the highlights for the week!!

Crocodile Room: look at their dramatic corner in rural cultural theme. Children get to explore Aboriginal people’s life style through living in the tent, lighting up stick fire and hunting for fish!! So much fun!!
