💛🖤❤️ ALL IN FOR RECONCILIATION ❤️🖤💛
During National Reconciliation Week, our Toddlers and Senior Preschoolers came together for a beautiful shared learning experience focused on connection, culture, and belonging.
We were honoured to welcome Clarence from Bush to Bowl, who shared stories of his Aboriginal heritage through storytelling, music, and hands-on experiences. The children learned about connections to Country, land and sea, including collecting pipis, using natural resources, and the importance of listening respectfully to stories passed down through generations.
Through a co-learning approach, our preschoolers supported and guided the toddlers as they collaborated to create a Reconciliation Tree. Together they painted, cut, created, and shared ideas, demonstrating kindness, leadership, patience, and teamwork.
This meaningful project helped children build respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, develop empathy for others, and experience the joy of learning together.
Our Reconciliation Tree stands as a reminder that we grow stronger when we listen, learn, and work together.
A special thank you to Clarence and Bush to Bowl for supporting our reconciliation journey.
💛 At Mi Kids, we are proud to be ALL IN for Reconciliation. 💛

💙 We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly humbled to share that Mi Kids has once again been named a Finalist in the 2026 Local Business Awards! 💙
What makes this recognition even more special is that it came as a complete surprise. We didn't promote the awards this year and didn't even realise Mi Kids was in the running.
To know that members of our community took the time to nominate and support us means the world to our team.
Being recognised as a finalist isn't just about an award. It signifies the trust, relationships, and connections we have built with children, families, educators, and our wider community. It tells us that Mi Kids is seen as a place where children are nurtured, families are valued, and everyone belongs.
As a family-owned service, this recognition warms our hearts and reminds us why we do what we do every day.
Thank you to every family, child, educator, and community member who has been part of our journey. This recognition belongs to all of you. We are so grateful for your ongoing support and for allowing us to be part of your children's early learning journey.
Thank you for thinking of Mi Kids. 💙

6 and a half years ago a quiet and charming young Cert 3 qualified educator accepted a casual shift at Mi Kids. Instantly we could tell that she was an instinctive educator, with a lovely calm and caring demeanor.
Since then Rachana has become a beloved and integral part of the team, progressing from a causal support educator, to full time educator to Room Leader of our Nursery.
Whilst working full time she has continued her study, obtaining her Diploma and yesterday she Graduated as an ECT!
Congratulations Rachana we are so lucky to have you and so proud of all your achievements to date! Looking forward to seeing you soar to new heights!

Growing Remembrance Through Relationships 🌿
At Mi Kids, we honoured ANZAC Day through the lens of relationships—remembering the deep connections between people, community, and country.
Across all rooms, from Nursery to Senior Preschool, children engaged with the story Anzac Ted by Belinda Landsberry, helping to gently introduce ideas of bravery, care, and remembrance. In our Senior Preschool, this understanding came to life through rich conversations, curiosity in nature, and collaborative experiences.
Using native coastal rosemary from our garden, planted by Bush to Bowl, the children created poppy and rosemary bouquets—connecting symbol, story, and place. Through this, they explored not only history, but the importance of caring for one another and honouring those who came before us.
In these shared moments, we saw relationships in action—children listening, creating, reflecting, and belonging together. 🌿

At Mi Kids, we believe behaviour is communication and every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and included.
Following our recent professional learning with Care Connect and insights from Melissa Traversa, our team has been engaging in deep critical reflection on how we best support children who may feel overwhelmed or dysregulated.
One key takeaway: regulate first, educate second.
This week, we are exploring “heavy work” strategies – using activities like pushing, pulling, lifting, and our new weighted ball experiences to support children’s nervous systems to feel calm, organised, and ready to learn.
✨ Simple ways families can support at home:
• Carry groceries or a backpack
• Push a laundry basket or help with chores
• Jump, climb, or do wall push-ups
• Drink thick smoothies through a straw
• Create calm, predictable routines
These small, purposeful movements can make a big difference in helping children regulate their bodies and emotions.
We are also so grateful to work alongside visiting therapists who share their knowledge and help strengthen our practice every day.
Together, we continue building a community where every child belongs, is supported, and can thrive 💛
