This week, some of our educators had the opportunity to attend face-to-face training from NSW Office of the Children's Guardian through their SAFE Series workshops, focusing on child protective behaviours. A huge thank you to Goodstart Early Learning Hurstville - Millett Street for hosting and giving us the opportunity to network with colleagues and extend our knowledge in this very important topic!

When 30 boxes arrive at once… you know it’s going to be a big day!
We’ve just invested over $10,000 in brand‑new Preschool resources, and our rooms are about to get a major boost.
Please keep our maintenance man in your thoughts, he’s going to need all the coffee and carbs he can get to tackle this load.

The children were absolutely buzzing this week as three friendly police officers, including one of our very own parents, popped in for a community visit. The room filled quickly with curiosity, big questions and plenty of confident sharing. As they chatted with the officers, the children strengthened their sense of identity, built trusting relationships and deepened their understanding of how police keep people safe and help the community.
The visit sparked rich conversations, new vocabulary and lots of problem‑solving as the children explored real‑world safety in a meaningful, empowering way. They listened, wondered and engaged from start to finish, showing themselves to be confident, involved learners.

Last week we had an action‑packed two days as the Fire Brigade visited our service, filling our learning spaces with excitement, big questions, and even bigger smiles. The children loved exploring the truck, trying out equipment, and discovering how firefighters keep our community safe, all while building real‑world understanding that links beautifully to the Early Years Learning Framework. (Connecting with their world (Outcome 2), strengthening their sense of wellbeing through safety learning (Outcome 3), and diving into confident, hands‑on exploration (Outcome 4). One of the most magical moments was seeing one of our own parents step out in full firefighter gear, giving the children an extra‑special sense of belonging and pride.
Our educators brought their passion joining in the fun, modelling curiosity, asking questions, and turning every moment into a playful, meaningful learning adventure. It’s been a joyful, memorable experience that will be talked about for weeks.

Over the next week we pause and reflect as we’re honouring the wonderful mother figures who bring so much love, strength, and warmth to our community.
We’ve created a special Mother’s Day booth where mums can gather with their children, capture memories and hopefully feel truly valued for all they do. It’s a small space for a big reminder, that their care shapes lives in ways that often go unseen.
Throughout the week, several mums will also be joining us for meaningful activities and shared experiences with the children, creating moments we know will be treasured.
We’re so grateful for the important role they play in our lives, and we look forward to celebrating them all week long.
