Coordinators are a vital part of our volunteer workforce – holding teams together and liaising with schools to get the lesson logistics right. Some coordinators don’t teach ethics themselves but enjoy the organisational side of things.
Kate Sawtschuk, coordinator and teacher at a large school in metro Sydney has written a lovely piece about using our discussion rules in her role as an ethics coordinator.

We’d love to get more coordinators on for the second half of this year. If you’re interested or know an ace organiser, find out more here-

SUPPORT VOLUNTEER-RUN ETHICS CLASSES IN NSW PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Ethics classes empower young minds to ask big questions, engage in thoughtful discussions and tackle ethical dilemmas.
By nurturing these capabilities today, we’re cultivating a generation that will thrive in the AI age and steer it toward a more inclusive and ethical future.
We need your help to do it. Primary Ethics is powered by supporter generosity.

Did you know that classroom support is available at any stage of the ethics teacher's journey?
Whether it's with a phone chat, an in-person visit, or a lesson observation, our Classroom Support Team is here to help. During observations, we sit quietly at the back of the classroom and can later provide supportive feedback — especially helpful if you’re working through an ongoing challenge or simply want another perspective.
We also aim to connect with all new ethics teachers within the first few months of teaching to help you feel supported and confident in the classroom.
To request support:
➡️ Log in to EVIE
➡️ Click Help & Feedback (top left next to the home icon)
➡️ Select Request Classroom Support on the left-hand side
➡️ Complete your details and submit
We facilitated a recent in-person CST visit for the Clovelly Public School ethics team.
A big thank you to Scott, James, Osher, Deborah, Ross (currently training), Laura and Sabina for attending, to our fantastic CST mentor Mike Godfrey, and of course to coordinator Ron for organising the visit.

Ethics teaching is a wonderful example of peer support in action. We have always valued and encouraged collaboration across school teams, creating opportunities for volunteers to share ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen their practice together.
How lovely to see Judi(L) and Lisa(R), our volunteers in the Forest area catching up over a coffee.
Judi is currently a regular ethics teacher at her school in The Forest . She is trying out some relief teaching at Lisa's school in Gordon.
This was after Judi's first relief lesson last week.
Thanks both for sharing!

SUPPORT ETHICS CLASSES IN YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL
Our volunteer-led program reaches almost 2000 classes in public schools each week. It isn’t enough.
Critical thinking has a crucial role in creating a brighter tomorrow. By empowering young minds to ask big questions, engage in thoughtful discussions and tackle ethical dilemmas, we prepare them to navigate and redefine the complexities of the world they’re growing into.
By nurturing these capabilities today, we’re cultivating a generation that will thrive in the AI age and steer it toward a more inclusive and ethical future.

What a wonderful day at the Centre for Volunteering Expo!
The Primary Ethics area manager team — all volunteers themselves — came away inspired, energised, and full of new ideas. It was a great opportunity to connect with others who are passionate about making a difference in their communities.
Our biggest takeaway? The real strength of volunteer organisations lies in our people. It's the relationships we build, the conversations we have, and the shared sense of purpose that bring our work to life.
Every volunteer brings their own experiences, skills, and generosity, and when those contributions come together, they create something far greater than the sum of its parts.
Thank you to the Centre for Volunteering for this fab day and to everyone we met along the way. We left with fresh insights, new connections, and a renewed appreciation for the power of community.

SUPPORT ETHICS CLASSES IN YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL
Our ethics classes in public schools are unique - children develop the essential skills to think carefully, listen with mutual respect and weigh the evidence before making their decisions. And it’s all powered by expertly trained volunteers.
We need your support to bring these skills to more children in more public schools.
