A simple idea – that keeps giving! The SEE Together Eye Care Ecosystem…

SIGHT: Children and adults can see clearly – which helps with school and work.

EDUCATION: Local health workers get best-practice eye care training – and then train others.

ENTERPRISE: Businesses can start up for accessible optical services and products – and help fund eye care for people who need it most.

☞ Did you know?

SEE Together now has an alumni of Mongolian eye doctors, as well as an experienced training team. This helps more remote communities and nomadic families get vital eye care much closer by.

But it’s not enough…

☞ Many families and communities are still too far from our trained eye care specialists.

☞ Glasses are too expensive for most people we help.

☞ The needs in Mongolia are so huge.

SEE Together is developing a *scalable eye care ecosystem* to turn blur to bright… big time!

You can help get there faster with your donation before 30 June. Give now and DOUBLE your impact.

Day 3 of our journey to Erdenet, north of Ulaanbaatar.

Erdenet is one of Mongolia’s richest mining cities, built around one of the world’s largest copper mines through a partnership with neighbouring Russia. It remains an important industrial and power hub for the region.

After several days of rain, the Mongolian countryside was at its best, lush, green, and full of life. We spent the day driving through sweeping landscapes, with our first stop to visit Ulzil, one of Steph’s former students. It was wonderful to reconnect and learn more about her aspirations and the training and development opportunities she would like to pursue next.

From there, we travelled through rolling valleys and across the striking green ridges of the mountains. The vast open spaces, endless grasslands, and dramatic scenery are a world away from the Australian countryside. Every turn revealed another breathtaking view, showcasing the beauty and scale of Mongolia’s remarkable landscape.

“Seeing the joy of someone wearing their very first pair of glasses – being able to see brightly without blur – is something I’ll never forget.” (Steph Chen)

You can help another girl, boy or adult in a remote Mongolian village to know that joy.

Plus, you can know the joy of your gift being DOUBLED!

Only until 30 June 2026. Don’t miss out. Donate now at https://seetogether.org/en/eofyappeal

Day 2 with the See Together, navigating the throng of traffic in UB is an experience, somewhat controlled Chaos in a small city. The weather dropped dramatically we were wearing T-shirts in 27 degree and today walking out to 4 degrees, snow caps on the distant mountain with a feather like snow falling from the skies while we walk to an meeting with our friends at Orbis international. Sharing and talking about challenges in the operating landscape. From there we jump into a cab only to jump out, as walking was quicker then driving to meet Battuya at her eye hospital. Over 20,000 eye test annually and the waiting room is always full. After a coffee we headed to see our other SEE Together trainer Nansaa. Nestled in an Italian inspired shopping centre, her brand new clinic in the 6 floor. Housing her new Optometrist equipment we spoke about her lens supplier and how would it be great to have a service provider in UB
Stay tuned for day 3

Our team has touched down in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia! After the long flights and airport terminals, we’re finally here and ready to get started. We’ve got two weeks on the ground and a lot of work ahead of us. Stay tuned for updates along the way — it’s going to be a great trip!

“What happens when we leave?”

I (Steph) was 25 when I first travelled to a remote village in western Mongolia as a volunteer. Queues of villagers waited all day just to have their eyes tested.

Many we saw. My volunteer optometrist colleagues and I helped them with eye tests and glasses.

But many more missed out – girls, boys, adults of all ages.

There had to be a better way.

Today, there is… SEE Together.

Last week, we joined the 35th Mongolian Ophthalmologists Conference in Ulaanbaatar — what a room! Over 150 eye doctors came together, and we had a great time sharing our upcoming activities and trainings. Looking forward to working with so many of them in the months ahead.

A huge thank you to the Mongolian Optometrists Star Association and our amazing graduates who represented SEE Together at the conference.
