π Got your PTE result but not sure what actually went wrong?
Many test takers receive their scores and immediately start asking:
β Which question type cost me marks?
β What are my strongest areas?
β What should I focus on before my next attempt?
The good news is that Pearson provides a useful tool that many students completely overlook.
π Log in to your PTE account
π Open your score report
π Scroll to the bottom-right corner
π Check your Skill Profile
You will find 8 different skill profiles that reflect your performance across various PTE question types.
While these profiles won't tell you your exact mistakes with pinpoint accuracy, they can provide valuable clues about where your weaknesses may lie and which areas deserve more attention during your preparation.
However, there is one important thing to remember:
β οΈ A single question type can contribute to multiple skill profiles, and multiple question types can influence the same profile. This means interpreting the data correctly is not always straightforward.
That's why two students with similar skill profiles can have completely different underlying problems.
A proper diagnosis often requires an experienced trainer who can analyse your score report, ask the right questions, and identify the real reason behind your performance.
Before you spend weeks practising the wrong question types, make sure you understand what your score report is actually telling you.
