On Tuesday this week, we had a very special visitor for our Kangas (2–3 years), Bianca from Northern Beaches Council’s Coastal Environment Centre 🌊💙🐚
Following the children’s current inquiry surrounding the ocean and sustainability, the experience allowed them to explore these concepts through hands-on learning and discussion. Together, the children learned about the ocean and the importance of caring for and protecting it.

Today we welcomed Kym the Reptile Man to our service 🐢🦎🐸
From our nursery children through to our Bluebirds, the children enjoyed meeting a variety of fascinating animals and learning about their unique features and habitats.
Experiences like these spark curiosity, encourage early scientific thinking, and help children develop a deeper appreciation and respect for the natural world around them 🌿

The Kangas (2-3 year olds) have been busy this week baking cookies for One Meal 🧡🍪
As part of our ongoing partnership with One Meal, each room takes turns throughout the year preparing baked goods to contribute to our weekly donation. This week, it was the Kangas’ turn!
Yesterday, the children worked together to read the recipe and follow each step in sequence, developing their early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. Today, they joined in small groups to decorate the cookies, ready to be shared with those in need.
As we decorated, we shared conversations about the importance of helping others, showing kindness, and how small acts of generosity can make a big difference in our community 💛✨

Last night our LDC and OSHC teams came together for a wonderful evening of reflection and professional discussion.
We spent time reviewing our ongoing practices and our commitment to providing the highest quality care and education for children. Together, we explored important changes occurring within the sector and reflected on how these align with and strengthen the practices already embedded within our daily work.
Continuous reflection and learning is at the heart of what we do, ensuring we continue to provide the very best outcomes for children and families.

Our Bluebirds (4–5 years) were inspired by ‘The Potato People’ by Pamela Allen to create their own potato people. 🥔 Together, they extended their learning by planting potatoes in the garden. As they explored this experience, the children reflected on the story’s core values of family connection, creativity, and a sense of belonging 🌱💛

This week we have been celebrating Nature Play Week 🌿🍃
Nature play is deeply embedded in our philosophy and everyday practice, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, where the environment is valued as the “third teacher.” Through exploring, creating, and discovering in natural spaces, our children are supported to develop curiosity and a strong connection to the world around them 🌼
