These are my three collage entries into the 'Cognito Art Show' which is meant to be anonymous but with thousands of entry across three states in Australia thought I'll share them with you.

Artwork One: Inspired by the squiggly bark tree this work includes a photographic image, bundle dyed fabric, thread and paper. Finished with washi tape and pieces of bark.

The awareness of these marks brings a new fascination of maps and storylines whilst on Country and my presence within Mothers Nature.

Artwork Two: Water colours, oil pastels and washi tape to produce a tribute for the events which occurred in Bondi Beach. Where the sand meets the sea and a community came together from near and far.

The tefillin takes pride of place as I observed many men praying at the memorial, along with donuts handed out in the tradition of Hannukah, peace dove, unity, Star of David, and a bumble bee.

Artwork Three: Natural dyes on tissue paper to create the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains. The border is a combination of dyed twine and water colours. Completed with an Australian Post mark and stamp.

I reflected on the lost art of sending postcards whilst travelling near and far from family and friends. A simple form of communication which spoke a thousand words of a place using one image. Always delivered with excitement, but read with jealousy and desire to be anywhere except at home.

It all started with a palette of primary colours.

Creating your home isn’t an instant action. It’s a process.

Recent weather had transformed my favourite seascape and I realised the possibility of its non existence over time. Each visit brings a shorter shoreline, more waste and the evidence destruction from the elements.

The sea glass is always visible and found some amazing shapes in the common tones of green and brown, and clear. Each piece taken a journey through the sea, tumbling and traveling on a path that ended here, for me to find.

On my way to the beach I stopped to watch the vastness of water and chatted with a couple of people. I was asked if I’ve ever found a message in a bottle. My response was ‘no, but today I asked the universe for something special.

That something special came in the form of two pieces of lilac glass which found me in different parts of the beach. Lilac is the colour of the Scottish heather flower, which is also my Mum’s name.

The universe and spiritual world communicates in mysterious way for those who believes. It wasn’t a message in a bottle, but a message from the unknown.
