YEAR 11 FOOD TECHNOLOGY // Tahlia D, Year 11
Last week, our Food Technology class had the privilege of speaking via Zoom with Olivia Lancaster, a registered and accredited Dietitian at Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. This was an incredible opportunity that allowed us to gain invaluable information on a potential career path. Through a slideshow created by Olivia, we gained insight into her role, learning what a typical day as a Clinical Dietitian may look like. Olivia spoke about the realities of her job, as well as what a dietetics university course would involve, giving us a better understanding of what to expect if we were to choose that path. This experience deepened our understanding of careers related to Food Technology and encouraged us to think more critically about our own futures as we begin to make important decisions about life after school.
Talking to Olivia provided real-world insights beyond the classroom, and we are grateful to her for taking the time to share her knowledge and experiences with us.

2026 MUSIC CAPTAIN, ABIGAIL O // “The Senior Gala Concert is a wonderful time of the year where ensembles have a chance to play music together and showcase the skills that students have been developing over the course of the first half of the year.
The Senior Gala Concert is also an opportunity for us Year 12 students to give final performances before focusing on the trial exams in Term 3 and the HSC.
There will be a variety of musical items such as jazz, orchestral, choral and wind bands. It will be a wonderful evening and I hope to see many people there supporting the performing arts.”

Head of Artificial Intelligence at The Anglican Schools Corporation, Mr Ridden, asked thought-provoking questions about how AI can act as a “co-intelligence rather than a replacement,” and how accountability and querying remain pivotal. Year 11 students Gemma Z and Arabella K also shared insights from last week’s AI Summit, explaining how AI is being effectively utilised in education and how schools can build localised Large Language Models to address security and privacy concerns.
