Last week Ambrose Early Learning OLQP at Greystanes took part in the Biggest Morning Tea by holding a bake sale. They prepared fruit salad, protein balls, baked chocolate chip cookies, made honey joys and banana bread. These cooking activities gave the children the opportunity to explore recipes, select ingredients, measure quantities, and follow steps to create their final products.

The children enthusiastically took turns selling their items to families, confidently interacting and proudly showcasing their efforts. Alongside their baking, they strengthened their literacy skills by creating thoughtful thank-you cards to accompany each purchase.

As payments were made, the children engaged in rich discussions about “real-life money,” exploring concepts of exchange and questioning whether paper money could be used. This supported their developing numeracy skills and understanding of everyday financial practices.

What a wonderful way for children to develop their literacy and numeracy skills by connecting learning to everyday life, while also raising an impressive $386 for a great cause.

The children at Santa Sophia Early Learning recently enjoyed their first park visit for the year.

In the lead-up, educators supported children’s learning with a visual social story, helping them understand what to expect and how to stay safe in the community. Timed with Road Safety Week, children explored road signs and practiced safe behaviours like using zebra crossings on their walk. At the park, children had a wonderful time exploring and engaging with their environment.

These visits play an integral part of the unique offering as part of the program at Ambrose Early Learning Santa Sophia, with many more planned to further extend children’s learning, build new skills, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

St Luke’s Early Learning is excited to take part in the Sea of Hearts Movement for a second year.

Families, children, and team members thoughtfully created these hearts while learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and peoples during Reconciliation Week.

“All in” walking together towards reconciliation with respect, understanding, and love.

Last week St Madeleine’s School Age Care acknowledged Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) by exploring activities inspired by the children’s book ‘Somebody’s Land’.

Throughout the week, they shared the story, which highlights caring for Country, respecting nature, and learning from First Nations people.

Their activities reflected the themes of connection, kindness, and looking after the world, encouraging children to think about how we can all care for the land for future generations.

The children in the Joyful Room at Our Lady Queen of Peace Greystanes Early Learning have been exploring plant lifecycles through observation, research, and creative illustrations. Their curiosity extended into World Bee Day (20 May), where they were introduced to the idea of St Ambrose the beekeeper and the service’s special bee symbol.

Together they questioned: Where do bees live? How do they make honey? What does a beekeeper do? The children investigated hives, learned how honeycomb is carefully formed, and discovered how important bees are to helping plants grow. They also used a range of materials to make meaning.

Inspired by their learning, the children showed care for the environment by creating water stations in the garden supporting bees to rest and drink.

This wonderful learning experience shows that even the smallest creatures play a big role in helping our world grow!

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of celebrating Mother’s Day across our services, recognising the amazing women in our lives.

At Ambrose Early Learning St John XXIII, they enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea where families came together to connect and celebrate. The afternoon was filled with fun activities including pony and unicorn races, colourful craft, and creating beaded rainbow bracelets. It was such a lovely opportunity for families to enjoy each other’s company and make the most of the wonderful outdoor spaces.

Early Learning Good Shepherd Plumpton won't let all this rain dampen their fun, instead they have taken advantage of the wet weather and purchased some gum boots and poncho's for the children to enjoy the muddy puddles.

Mud play is not only a way to make precious childhood memories, it's also a great way for children to learn, relax, and engage in some physical activity.
