NEW WEATHER SYSTEMS RESIDENCY

ReadyMade Works is excited to announce Weather Systems, a new space residency for emerging to mid-career artists looking to develop their studio practice in an ongoing, consistent and supported manner.

The Weather Systems residency supports artists to work across 6 months with weekly studio space and regular mentorship from choreographer and ReadyMade Works Director, Jane McKernan.

The aim of the Weather Systems residency is to support artists in NSW to develop a methodology of practice. The focus is on how to work in the studio rather than what is being made, developing practice rather than a specific project or endpoint, and should deepen the artist's inquiry and choreographic work. It could be life changing!

Application is via a short expression of interest form.

It was great to have Cecil Hills High School visit our dance campus as part of AMPA’s outreach program.

The students participated in a variety of dance classes and learned about technique, creativity, groove, as well as what it’s like to study dance in a tertiary environment and what career pathways await in the performing arts. They also had the opportunity to meet our talented students and international faculty.

It was wonderful sharing the dance floor with you all — thank you for visiting!

Year 10 student:
“I really enjoyed learning new techniques and skills that will help me in the future. The teachers explained everything clearly and helped us build the movements step by step, which made it easier to understand and improve. I had so much fun while also learning new ways to move and express myself through dance.”

Year 8 student:
“I appreciated how supportive and encouraging everyone was — even if you made a mistake, they motivated you to keep going and do your best. ”

Featuring AMPA alumni Bonnie Curtis Projects, Courtney Allerton, Hannah Mourin and Sara Moad, (un)bound 2.0 brings together four emerging choreographers with bold, distinct voices, each interrogating the forces that shape, restrict, and define our bodies.

This is a night of fresh voices and urgent ideas, where bodies are challenged, identities are questioned, and the systems that shape us are pulled apart in real time.

Bodies collide, energy builds, and something electric happens in the room. No two works are the same, but all of them ask you to look again.

Sharp, playful, and unfiltered, (un)bound 2.0 invites you to experience what happens when boundaries are tested, and something begins to shift.

Presenting works by Bonnie Curtis, Bella Lopes de Oliveira, Sara Moad, and Tina Moss.

Artist and choreography lecturer Anca Frankenhaeuser presents From Me to You, a special solo created in collaboration with second-year student .

“When invited to create a solo with Kevin, it was immediately clear that it had to be with him rather than for him. The work emerges from Kevin’s responses to a series of diverse tasks—revealing a striking range of dynamics, from subtle vulnerability to intense power.”

A work grounded in trust, collaboration, and embodied expression.
