๐Ÿ‰ Well done to our Saint Davidโ€™s boys at the SAPSASA AFL Carnival!

Despite injuries and limited numbers, the boys showed incredible resilience throughout the day. They never gave up, supported one another, and competed brilliantly to finish 4th in Division 2.

We are so proud of the determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship they displayed on and off the field.

A big thank you to all the parents who came along to support, and to Adam Calnan for his excellent work as goal umpire throughout the day, the flags have never been waved better!

Well done, boys! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ€ A fantastic day at the Catholic Basketball Carnival for our Saint Davidโ€™s teams!

Our girls were outstanding, finishing as runners-up after a hard-fought grand final, while our boys also competed strongly to finish 4th overall.

There were plenty of great shots, teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship on display throughout the day, making us incredibly proud of all our players.

A big thank you to our wonderful parent supporters for cheering on the teams, and to Mr McDonald for his help with scoring.

Well done, everyone! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

This morning, our Year 5 and 6 students were fortunate to hear from Sr Katrina Van Ruth, who shared her inspiring journey as a Josephite.

Sr Katrina spoke about her calling to become a Sister of St Joseph and reflected on the incredible work, dedication, and sacrifices she has made in following the footsteps of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

This visit was particularly significant as this year marks 160 years of Catholic education in the Josephite tradition. Hearing from Sr Katrina was especially meaningful for our senior students as they prepare to take on leadership roles at our annual Mary MacKillop Fete Day in August.

We thank Sr Katrina for sharing her story, insight, and service with our school community.

๐Ÿถ Todayโ€™s Playgroup theme was all about PETS! ๐Ÿฐ

The children had a paw-some time engaging in imaginative play at our vet surgery, getting creative with arts and crafts, and exploring our pet-themed sensory tray. There was plenty of fun and learning for everyone involved!

Weโ€™d love to welcome you to our Playgroup. Join us every Tuesday from 9:00amโ€“10:30am.

No need to book, just come along and have some fun!

On Wednesday 27 May, Olivia Savvas, MP, visited our Year 6 classes to chat with the students before their upcoming trip to the Parliament House. Students learnt a lot about how someone becomes an MP and got the chance to ask questions about current issues that affect them. The Year 6's will see Olivia again when she takes us on our tour of the Parliament House in Week 7!

At Saint Davidโ€™s Parish School, we are committed to nurturing a community grounded in respect, inclusion, and understanding. In keeping with this commitment, we are pleased to share our newly refined Acknowledgement of Country, which will now be used across the school at gatherings, meetings, and formal occasions.
The new video was officially launched at our Community Prayer gathering on Monday 1 June by Uncle Ivan, Kaurna Elder. This renewed Acknowledgement has been carefully developed to ensure it is meaningful, authentic, and reflective of our shared responsibility to walk together in the spirit of reconciliation. It invites students and the wider community to deepen awareness, respect, and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contributions.
As a Catholic community, this initiative is deeply connected to our Gospel call to honour the dignity of every person and to build relationships founded on justice, respect, and compassion.

As a school community, we proudly acknowledge and celebrate National Reconciliation Week. This yearโ€™s theme โ€œAll Inโ€ reminds us that reconciliation is a shared journey where every person has a role to play in building respectful relationships and creating meaningful change.

Congratulations to our Sacramental students who celebrated their Confirmation and First Communion on Saturday.

Today is National Sorry Day, marking 29 years since the tabling of the Bringing Them Home Report in 1997. On this day, we pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia.

We remember and acknowledge the immeasurable harm, grief and injustice experienced by the Stolen Generations, their families and communities, and recognise the ongoing impact still felt across generations today.

Today and every day, we acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generation survivors and recommit to listening, learning and taking meaningful steps towards reconciliation.
