Yesterday was International Yoga Day, so today we started the morning a little slower with our own Little Buckets yoga session.

With the rain keeping us indoors, we transformed the meals area into a calm and cosy yoga space. The toddlers walked in, chose their own mat, and settled in ready to begin.

One pose at a time, Elley demonstrated at the front while the children watched and copied each movement, exploring balance, stretching and coordination together. We also spent time looking through a set of yoga flash cards, learning new poses and practising what we could see.

To finish, we came together for a short moment of guided meditation, helping everyone wind down and reset for the day ahead.

Our Kindy children enjoyed a hands-on numeracy experience using a sensory flour tray. The children practised forming numbers with their fingers in the flour, exploring number recognition and formation through tactile play.

Once they felt confident, they transferred their learning to a whiteboard, carefully copying the numbers they had practised. A wonderful way to build early maths skills while engaging the senses.

The children enjoyed outdoor play before taking part in a hand hygiene sensory activity.

We used frozen “germ” gloves and washed them away with soap, sponges and water, learning all about the importance of keeping our hands clean in a fun, hands-on way.

A great mix of sensory play, learning, and fine motor development.

Our toddlers activity focus today was Move Like an Animal and it was an absolute blast!

The children were so excited when they heard what we’d be doing and quickly got into the spirit of things as we explored different animal movements together - stomping like elephants, running like lions, and bringing each animal to life with energy and imagination.

With animal sounds playing in the background, the centre was full of excitement, laughter, and movement from start to finish! 🐾

Our little artists had fun creating colourful butterfly prints using sponges and paint. The children chose their own colours and carefully pressed their painted sponges onto paper to create beautiful butterflies.

As they explored the butterfly life cycle, they also developed their fine motor skills, creativity, colour recognition, and confidence. We loved seeing their unique creations and the pride they took in sharing them with others.

Our Kindy crew had lots of fun creating caterpillars using real leaves. 🐛

They carefully arranged and glued the leaves onto paper, bringing their caterpillars to life with their creativity and imagination!
