Kinder 1 and 2 take on the big bridge! 🌉🚗
Recently our kinder rooms ventured out to visit the Ison road bridge construction as part of their exploration of bridges during road safety week.
They walked to the Guilded road/Azola avenue fence and met Emma from Big Build Roads to get their safety hard hats on, and talk about all the types of construction happening on site.
It was such an amazing morning, the children had so many questions and curiosities, really building on their social, physical cognitive and emotional skills ready for school! 😍

The hands that shape our Journey 🫶
Recently we have created a display in our staircase that leads to our team retreat, to remind us all about the little hands that make the greatest impact. When creating this display it just so happened that these images naturally highlight our 3 Journey values.
Connection ♥️ children two children supporting each-other during an evacuation drill, ensuring safety through connection
Consideration ♥️ A child connecting with an educator during a cultural celebration - highlighting how children are born with compassion and curiosity
Communication ♥️ A child during our bush nursery excursion exploring Aboriginal symbols in sand, connecting to place, and exploring Non-verbal communication.
A constant reminder of how important early education is for young minds 🫶🏻

Last Friday our Centre manage Tiarah went to The Sector Connect+ conference exploring educator wellbeing in workforce changes. Such an important forum that discussed environmental conditions that support leadership and educator wellbeing. Can’t wait to bring some of these strategies to life! 🍃🫶🏻

Learning, playing, and growing together on Wadawurrung Country 🖤💛♥️
During National Reconciliation Week, we reflected on how we can continue to strengthen Aboriginal perspectives throughout our everyday program.
As a result, we have introduced possum skins into each learning environment, providing opportunities for children to engage in nurturing play, storytelling, and conversations about culture, Country, and traditional ways of caring.
We are continuing to strengthen children’s connections to Country by embedding learning experiences that reflect the Aboriginal Nations and communities our families belong to and connect with. Through resources from Yorta Yorta Country, language learning from Wadawurrung Country, and stories and artworks from Aboriginal communities across Australia, we are creating meaningful opportunities for children to see their identities, cultures, and histories represented within our program.
Reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to continuing to learn, reflect, and grow together. 🫶🏻

We’re here, there and everywhere!
This week our mini footy kinder sessions have been running so well, and our Friday group was the first to see our new sign on the Wyndhamvale Football Club oval!
The children saw it before we did, shouting “look it’s Journey!”
They were so excited to see a little piece of us represented in our community, alongside other sponsors. Such a beautiful moment highlighting a wonderful partnership!

Footy Kinder is well underway!
Our fortnightly Footy Kinder Sessions with Wyndham Vale Football club have been absolutely phenomenal. The children in the program have been so excited to get on the Journey Bus and get kicking!
These sessions wonderfully highlight skills across our Kinder + developmental domains. Physical; They're exploring gross motor, hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Cognitive; crossing the midline is a crucial skill in reading and writing development. Social; learning social collaboration and sportsmanship supports empathy, and Emotional; body movement supports emotional regulation, endorphin release and nervous system calibration, priming their brains and bodies for more learning!

“I did it!”
This week our kinder 2 children explored Reconciliation week through discovering ancient Aboriginal cave paintings. They painted their own using aboriginal language symbols, exploring fine motor development, creativity, executive function skills and deepening their knowledge in Aboriginal culture, art, and language systems ♥️
