Sometimes development is about mastering the basics.

Our U13 Academy players worked through an unopposed passing practice focused on the technical details that often go unnoticed, quality of first touch, passing technique, movement to support, scanning before receiving, and communication with teammates.

By removing pressure, players can concentrate on building strong habits and developing consistency in their actions before applying them in more game-realistic environments.

The best players don’t skip the fundamentals, they master them. 📈⚽️

Last night our Wednesday group on pitch focused on:

⚡️ Acceleration mechanics
⚡️ Change of direction in 1v1 scenarios
⚡️ Lateral speed & crossover movement
⚡️ Explosive power off the mark

The boys continue to show strong signs of improvement through consistent training, quality coaching, and a long-term approach to athletic development.

A key part of the program is managing the athlete, not just the session. Through ongoing load management and wellness monitoring, we can better support performance, recovery, and long-term development.

This school holidays, players will experience our World Cup Edition Core Camps designed to develop technical ability, tactical understanding, confidence, and a genuine love for the game.

Each day includes three key components:

⚽ Technical training sessions focused on ball mastery, decision-making, finishing, and game actions

🧠 Football classroom sessions connecting key learning outcomes to real World Cup moments!

🏆 World Cup tournament play where players represent nations, compete through the group stages, and battle for a place in the finals on the final day

Players will learn from experienced coaches in a positive environment designed to challenge, inspire, and accelerate development.

Lucas has been part of EVO since 2022 almost 5 years within the EVO family!

A driven, talented and humble young man, Lucas is the definition of a quiet achiever. While he may not always be the loudest voice in the group, he consistently leads through his actions and has become a fantastic role model amongst his teammates.

His commitment to development is outstanding, regularly completing four sessions per week across three pitch-based sessions and gym sessions. Lucas continually demonstrates the discipline and work ethic required to maximise his potential.

After playing a key role on our Melbourne Tour last year, Lucas continues to develop strongly and is already looking forward to representing EVO again on the Gold Coast this September.

Supported by a fantastic family who fully embrace the development journey, Lucas has made a real impact at EVO. His consistency, attitude and commitment never go unnoticed.

𝙎𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙨. 𝘽𝙞𝙜 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜.

This practice is designed to develop an attacker’s ability to beat an opponent in a 1v1 situation.

The defender is restricted to a horizontal line and can only move side-to-side, removing the ability to recover through depth. This places greater emphasis on the attacker’s ability to manipulate, unbalance and eliminate their opponent through skill and decision-making.

Key attacking outcomes include:

⚽ Recognising space early
👀 Reading the defender’s movement
🔄 Using feints and deception
💨 Changing speed at the right moment
➡️ Creating separation before attacking the next line

Because the defender cannot advance or retreat, attackers receive clear visual feedback on how their movements influence the opponent’s positioning.

A simple practice that creates hundreds of opportunities for players to develop confidence, creativity and effectiveness in 1v1 situations.

What makes these camps different?

Every player will be allocated into a team nation and spend three days competing to become EVO World Cup Champions 🏆

Each day is built around three key components:

⚽ Training Sessions
Age-specific technical and tactical development delivered by EVO coaches.

🧠 Classroom Learning
Interactive football education sessions using World Cup examples to explore topics such as decision making, leadership, teamwork, mentality, nutrition, quizzes and game understanding.

🌍 World Cup Tournament Play
Each day concludes with tournament matches as nations battle their way through the group and knockout stages.

The final day culminates in the World Cup Finals, where champions will be crowned.

👤 Cameron Green

While many within the EVO Family already know Cam, we’re proud to officially acknowledge and welcome Cameron Green as part of our coaching team as Head Coach of the U8 Academy | Club Squad, as well as working with other academy players through to U14.

Cameron’s journey through EVO is a reflection of what long-term development can achieve. Spending 4 years within the EVO Academy system, he has grown from a young developing player into an emerging footballer and coach with an exciting future ahead.

Over the past 6 months, Cameron has embedded himself strongly within the coaching environment, building fantastic relationships with players, staff and families while consistently showing professionalism, energy and a genuine passion for development.

Cameron is a humble, passionate and energetic individual who brings outstanding attention to detail into every session.

Although still early in his coaching journey, his delivery, understanding and approach are well beyond his years — and we believe he has enormous potential within the coaching pathway.

For our younger players, having coaches who have lived the journey themselves creates belief, connection and inspiration.
