MPH 7th and 8th Batch Defense!

The thesis defense of seven Master of Public Health (MPH) fellows from the 7th and 8th batches of the One Health Institute (OHI), CVASU, was held today at the Conference Room of the Department of Medicine & Surgery (DMS), CVASU. The program was convened and moderated by Prof. Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Director (In-charge) of OHI. The thesis evaluation team included:

⦁ Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury, Dean, Dept. of Public Health, Asian University for Women, Chattogram

The thesis topics spanned a wide range of critical issues, from gestational diabetes mellitus and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles in medical and veterinary hospitals to the risk assessment of street foods near elementary school premises in the Chattogram Metropolitan Area—all explored through a dedicated public health lens.

Other distinguished participants included Prof. Dr. Mohammad Alamgir Hossain (Dept. of Pathology & Parasitology, CVASU), Prof. Dr. Md Anowar Parvez (DMS, CVASU), and Dr. Syeda Munira Dilshad (Lecturer, Dept. of Public Health, Premier University). The session was also attended by PhD and MPH 9th Batch fellows of OHI, as well as Master’s fellows from the Faculty of Food Science & Technology, CVASU. The program was meticulously coordinated by the office personnel of OHI and the DMS.

Today, on 03 May 2026 at 10:30 AM, a Trial Presentation Seminar was successfully held at the OHI Conference Room (5th floor), One Health Institute Building, with the participation of seven students scheduled for their defense.

The session was graced by the honorable teachers:

Dr. Homayra Parvin Hima, Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology and Parasitology, CVASU

They evaluated the presentations and provided valuable guidance and constructive feedback to the students.

🌍✨ Kick-off Meeting on One Health AMR Awareness Campaign ✨🌍

The Kick-off Workshop (1–2 April 2026) was successfully held in Chattogram to initiate Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) awareness programmes for school students at the divisional level.

📌 Background
Following a virtual meeting on 30 March 2026 among key stakeholders—including the Department of Livestock Services, WOAH consultants, and the One Health Institute CVASU—this workshop was organized to align plans and begin implementation.

✔ Venue confirmed: Hotel Tower Inn, Jubilee Road

Due to SSC examinations, the programme will focus on selected schools this year.

📅 Upcoming Activity
A Resource Development Workshop will be held on 13 April 2026 at Hotel Tower Inn, aiming to prepare resource persons for school-based One Health activities.

This initiative is supported by the World Organisation for Animal Health, Department of Livestock Services, One Health Institute CVASU, and One Health Young Voice, Bangladesh.

Together, advancing One Health and combating AMR at the grassroots level 💙

🌏 CALL FOR PROPOSALS | SEAOHUN 2026 Regional Student Competition

Passionate about creating real-world impact? Turn your classroom knowledge into community action through the One Health approach.

The Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) has launched the SEAOHUN 2026 Regional Student Competition – One Health Campus-to-Community, encouraging students to design innovative projects addressing challenges at the human–animal–environment interface.

📌 Focus Areas:
• Zoonotic disease prevention (e.g., Rabies, Avian Influenza)
• Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
• Environmental health & climate change
• Sustainable agrifood systems & food safety
• Community-based One Health surveillance
• Digital innovation & AI in One Health

👩‍🎓 Eligibility:
Students from Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, and Laos
✔ Multidisciplinary team
✔ Academic mentor
✔ Completion of SEAOHWA One Health Course
✔ Engage at least 50 community members
