Another successful collaboration between RIoT Center & OsloMet.

RIoT Center researchers (Prof. Mahbubul Syeed, Jahid Hasan and Avijit Roy) were out in an extensive data collection campaign in BAU Medicinal Plant Museum, Mymensingh. This research is the part of collaboration with Dept. of Crop Botany, BAU.

This research is intended to produce comprehensive medicinal plant dataset with empirical metadata having real-world variability and develop fine grained medicinal plant detection/segmentation/classification through robust modeling of generalizable and reproducible DL models to facilitate meaningful cross-study comparisons for ecology conservation, species inventory management, patch-level localization, species surveillance, coverage estimation, and repeated assessment of seasonal or long-term vegetation dynamics.

Professor Mahbubul Syeed, Deputy Director, RIoT Center has Chaired the Technical Session "Deep Learning and Image Processing Apps" in the 15th ICSCA, held in Langkawi, Malaysia, Feb 3-6.

Professor Mahbubul Syeed and Senior Lecturer Kaniz Fatema, from RIoT Center & IUBCS, IUB have presented their respective research papers in the 15th ICSCA Conference, Langkawi, Malaysia.

Dr. Razib Hayat Khan, Director, RIoT, IUB has attended the 18th ICCRD, 2026 Conference (Core Rank: C) held on January 23-25 in Singapore City, Singapore.
