The BAFSDMC Chess Tournament is asking all people to come to an evening that is full of thinking ahead paying attention and competing against other people.

We want you to join us this Saturday at 8 PM and play chess against people who are also good at the game of chess.

On 13th May, the 𝗕𝗔𝗙 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 organized an engaging session on "𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀"

This session was conducted by 𝗠𝗱 𝗘𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗾, 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗱 (𝗘𝗖-𝟲) smoothly. More than 100 students from class 3 to class 5 attended the session. They learned about Olympiad topics and preparation strategies. His structured and informative way of speaking helped the students to understand everything precisely.

We appreciate and are grateful to our 𝗖𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗮 𝗬𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀, who takes fundamental steps to organize this session. We anticipate that more sessions from 𝗕𝗔𝗙 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 will be hosted in the future for the benefit of students who aspire to learn new things.

𝐖𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭, 𝐖𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝

On 12 May 2026, 𝐁𝐀𝐅 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 took an 𝑶𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 for the School Section (Bangla Version). We warmly welcomed the school students of Bangla version of Classes 3–10.

We were glad to have our respected 𝑪𝒐-𝑴𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝐀𝐥𝐢 𝐀𝐤𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐫, along with our dedicated School and College Panelists. They conducted the whole session successfully by their dedication and good planning.

We also thank everyone who joined the session and again those who showed interest in becoming a part of our Maths Club family. We warmly welcome you all.

𝐖𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭, 𝐖𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved student from BAF Shaheen Dhaka, Class XI, on 11th May 2026.

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
“Indeed, to Allah we belong, and indeed to Him we shall return.” (Quran 2:156)
His unexpected departure has left a void in our hearts. We are filled with grief over this great loss. We turn to Allah in this moment of sorrow, seeking His mercy and forgiveness for his soul. We pray that Allah grants him a place in the highest ranks of Jannah, where peace and tranquility prevail.

As we remember him, we reflect on the bright spirit and potential he showed. His time with us was marked by dedication, kindness, and a promising future. Although his time was short, his presence made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. May his memory inspire us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly tough time. May Allah give them patience, strength, and comfort as they face this immense loss. We pray that Allah surrounds them with His mercy and eases their hearts during this period of grief. We invite the entire BAF Shaheen Dhaka community to join us in offering Duas for his soul and for the strength and comfort of his loved ones. May Allah’s mercy bring peace to all who mourn his loss.

The torchbearer who navigated the logical labyrinths of complex surfaces: Happy Birthday. From shattering gender barriers to revolutionizing the mathematical world, she was in a league of her own. ��
Maryam Mirzakhani was born on May 12, 1977, in Tehran, Iran. After earning her PhD at Harvard and becoming a professor at Stanford University, she tackled the most elusive problems of geometry. She brought order to the chaotic paths of moving spaces with her study of 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐢 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 and 𝐑𝐢𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬. There she provided a way to count simple closed geodesics- the shortest loops on a surface, and co-proved the “𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐦”. In 2014, she became the first woman to be awarded the Fields Medal, cementing a legacy and paving the way for women in mathematics. Though her journey was tragically cut short in 2017, in recognition of the massive impact she left behind, 12 May has also been officially designated as 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 in her memory. �

𝐁𝐀𝐅 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 commemorates this day as she remains a source of infinite inspiration. She was a storyteller who turned mathematics into a grand adventure, an artist who doodled her way toward profound discoveries, and a steady explorer with the daring imagination of a novelist——leaving behind a legacy that refuses to fade.

A 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 is a female parent, a woman who gives birth to, adopts, or raises a child. But is that really enough to fully describe the word "Mother"? For a woman, motherhood doesn't begin with only a title but a new identity filled with immense responsibilities. From 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 a child's life to balancing her own, a mother embraces everything with love, sacrifice, patience, and strength. She tries her best to shape the beginning of a God-gifted life.

Mothers consider their child as their greatest 𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠. They may not express it with words, but their actions and silent sacrifice says it all. But how often do we remind them that they are just as 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 to us? Let's make this one day a little more special for them through even the smallest gesture of love.

From the 𝐁𝐀𝐅 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛, Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers—those whose love continue to live in our hearts, those who are dedicating themselves every day to their children, and those who are soon to begin the beautiful journey of motherhood. Accept our 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 and 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 for being one of the greatest blessings in our lives.

On 30𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥, the 𝘽𝘼𝙁 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝘿𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝘾𝙡𝙪𝙗 organized a wonderful session on "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐬"

In this session, we were pleased to have 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐦, 𝐁𝐔𝐄𝐓 (𝐌𝐄), 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 (𝑬𝑪-5) as our session instructor. We learned a lot of new things from him. We started thinking more about calculus from outside of our academic box. His creative examples, clear explanation and wonderful discussion about calculus helped us a lot to catch the topic and to realize the importance of it.

We are sincerely grateful to our 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐫, Department Head of Mathematics Department, who takes initial steps to organize this session and also thanks everyone who was part of this and attended the session. We hope that like this session, more sessions will be organized in future and we hope your presence.

Continuing the tradition of the previous edition, the 𝗕𝗔𝗙𝗦𝗗𝗠𝗖 is organizing the 𝟮𝟮𝘁𝗵 online chess tournament. This time we increase the time and keep the 𝟑+𝟎 bullet format.

However, it may seem a bit more time than the previous week but every second is important. You have to be precise about your every move and time control. A single mistake and you will lose your chance to become a champion. Wish you everyone good luck.
