এবং কারণটা? AI।

Meta গতকাল তাদের মোট কর্মীদের ১০% ছাঁটাই করেছে। Integrity team যারা Facebook থেকে hate speech সরাতো, cybersecurity team, content design division - সবাই জাস্ট গন।

ভোর ৪টায় ফোনে notification পেয়েছেন কেউ কেউ। এশিয়া থেকে শুরু হয়েছে, তারপর ঢেউ এসেছে আমেরিকায়।

Zuckerberg তার কোম্পানিতে memo পাঠিয়েছেন। লিখেছেন - "AI is the most consequential technology of our lifetimes।" আর তারপর বলেছেন - "The companies that lead the way will define the next generation।"

সাথে আরেকটা কথাও আছে। শুধু ছাঁটাই না, ৬,০০০ খালি পদও আর পূরণ করবে না Meta। অর্থাৎ মোট ১৪,০০০ মানুষের জায়গা এখন ফাঁকা থাকবে। আর সেই কাজ করবে AI।

এখন সবচেয়ে চিন্তার অংশে আসি।

যারা চাকরি হারাননি, তাদের ৭,০০০ জনকে নতুন team এ সরানো হচ্ছে। team গুলোর নাম - Applied AI Engineering, Agent Transformation Accelerator, Central Analytics। কাজ হবে AI agent বানানো যারা coding, research, analytics করবে।

মানে যে কাজটা এখন মানুষ করছে, সেটা আগামীতে AI করবে - এবং Meta নিজেই সেই AI বানাচ্ছে।

Meta এর capital expenditure এই বছর $১৪৫ বিলিয়ন পর্যন্ত যেতে পারে। গত বছর ছিলো $৭২ বিলিয়ন। দ্বিগুণ। সব AI এর পেছনে।

বিশ্বাস করেন, এই সংখ্যাগুলো পড়তে পড়তে আমি নিজেই একটু থমকে গেছি।

তবে এখানে একটা কথা আছে।

Meta একা না। Goldman Sachs এর survey বলছে AI-driven layoff এখন প্রতি মাসে ১৬,০০০ এর বেশি।

২০২৬ সালে এখন পর্যন্ত পুরো tech industry তে প্রায় ১,১০,০০০ ছাঁটাই হয়েছে। Cisco আলাদাভাবে ৪,০০০ কমিয়েছে। এটা Meta র একার সিদ্ধান্ত না, এটা একটা pattern।

আমার তো মনে হচ্ছে এটা আর "AI চাকরি নেবে কি নেবে না" সেই তর্কের জায়গায় নেই।

এটা এখন ঘটছে, সামনে চোখের সামনে।

প্রশ্নটা এখন হলো - আপনি AI ব্যবহার করতে শিখছেন, নাকি যে সাইডে বসে থাকলে replace হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বেশি সেখানে আছেন?

আপনার কাজের জায়গায় AI নিয়ে কোনো পরিবর্তন টের পাচ্ছেন কি?
