CEE Department, IUT

The Dept. of CEE, Islamic University of Technology, successfully presented the Inception Report of the LGED-funded research study titled “Development and Validation of a Low-Cost Field Device for Prime Coat Bond Strength Evaluation in Pavement” at LGED Headquarters.
The workshop was organized by the Research, Innovation and Knowledge Management (RIKM) Cell, LGED and held on 16 June 2026 at the Conference Room, Level-4, LGED Bhaban, Agargaon, Dhaka. The session was chaired by Md. Belal Hossain, Honorable Chief Engineer, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). Nazmus Sakib, PhD, PE, Associate Professor, Dept. of CEE, IUT and the Team Lead, presented the report.
The event brought together a highly engaged group of LGED engineers, project directors, executive engineers, researchers, and technical professionals. The participant list reflects broad representation from LGED units and ongoing development projects, showing strong institutional interest in the study and its practical application.
The discussion was lively, constructive, and strongly field-oriented. Participants shared practical concerns on prime coat quality, bonding performance, field implementation, and the need for simple tools that can help engineers make better acceptance decisions on site.
The workshop clearly demonstrated LGED engineers’ appetite for adopting new technology and their eagerness to implement locally developed knowledge and research outcomes. For IUT CEE, this is an encouraging step toward translating academic research into practical engineering tools for Bangladesh’s road infrastructure sector.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), Islamic University of Technology is proud to celebrate its remarkable recognitions at the IUT Excellence Award Ceremony 2026, held on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, at the IUT campus.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Excellency Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon, MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Honourable Vice Chancellor of IUT; and Dr. Hissein Araby Nour, Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor of IUT.

The Department of CEE is delighted to share the following achievements:

Dr. Imran Kabir received the Teaching Excellence Award for his dedication to effective teaching, student engagement, and academic contribution.

Dr. Amimul Ahsan received the Research Excellence Award for his outstanding contribution to research, publication, and knowledge creation.

Prof. Dr. Md. Tarek Uddin received special recognition for quality assurance activities, reflecting his sustained contribution to strengthening academic standards, quality systems, and continuous improvement.

Prof. Dr. Hossain Md. Shahin received recognition for his role as a leading Head of the Department and for academic leadership, honoring his contribution to departmental development, academic governance, and institutional progress.

Mr. Md. Sayeed Hasan, Secretary, CEE received the Staff Excellence Award for his service.

The Department of CEE, IUT was also recognized for receiving BAETE-Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education accreditation, marking an important milestone in its continued journey toward quality education, outcome-based learning, and professional engineering standards.
