BREAKING: IGP Bans Police Officers From TikTok, Facebook, Others, Threatens Dismissal
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has banned serving officers of the Nigeria Police Force from engaging in unauthorised social media activities, warning that violators risk dismissal, demotion, salary forfeiture, and possible prosecution.
The order which takes immediate effect was contained in an internal circular dated June 22, 2026, and marked “Restricted – For Official Use Only.”
According to the directive, the Force has observed a growing trend of officers posting videos, conducting live sessions, and creating social media content while in uniform or in situations clearly linking them to the Nigeria Police Force.
The directive further prohibits the release of classified or sensitive information related to police operations, deployments, personnel records and operational strategies.
In a major development, the IGP also placed responsibility on senior officers for violations committed by subordinates stating, stating that any supervising officer found negligent in detecting or reporting violations may also face disciplinary action.

BREAKING: PROTESTERS SHUT DOWN IBADAN
Traffic was disrupted from 10 a.m. today Monday 22nd June, 2026 at the popular Iwo Road area of Ibadan, Oyo State, as protesters under the aegis of the Take It Back Movement barricaded the major route in protest, calling on the government to intensify efforts towards securing the release of abducted schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped in Oyo State.
The National Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement, Juwon Sanyaolu, said that the protest was in continuation of the campaign that commenced since the pupils and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of the state were abducted in May.
According to him, the organisation would continue to mobilise citizens for protests until all abducted victims regain their freedom.

BREAKING: KEIR STARMER RESIGNS AS UK PRIME MINISTER
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, has officially announced his resignation from office.
Starmer announced his resignation on Monday, 22nd June, less than two years after he assumed office.
“Every decision I have taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labour Party,” Starmer said in an emotional speech outside 10 Downing Street.
Starmer, who took office in July 2024, has been clinging to power for months after a tenure littered with missteps, policy U-turns, scandals, and ministerial resignations.
Some Labour MPs believe Burnham’s victory shows he is better positioned to confront Reform UK and its leader, Nigel Farage, ahead of the next general election.
