🐦 What Sound Do Birds Make?

As children explored the birds in our outdoor environment, we noticed them expressing their ideas through sound, imitation and playful communication.

Using a voice recording app, the children recorded and replayed their bird calls, transforming the experience into a collaborative game of listening and guessing together.

Through this inquiry, children developed confidence, expressive communication, listening skills and independence while engaging meaningfully with technology as a tool for learning.

A Study of Eggs & Birds

Curiosity continued to grow as the children observed eggs, birds, and nests, using drawing to capture the shapes, patterns, and details they noticed. Returning to the observation table again and again, they refined their ideas with each sketch.

Their wonder deepened after discovering what was inside a goose egg, leading to hands-on cooking experiences. Through cracking, cooking, and tasting goose eggs, the children explored observation, curiosity, and the science of change. ✨🥚

Our children returned to a refreshed learning environment ready to explore, investigate, and create. In the art spade, they explored natural clay—discovering how it differs from playdough and learning to adapt their techniques as they worked with its unique texture.

Through hands-on exploration, they experimented with tools, created patterns and forms, and combined loose parts like twigs to bring their ideas to life. These experiences not only sparked imagination by but also strengthened their fine motor skills.

Mama Bird's Nest

Sandpit Activity

The children transformed the space into a concrete mixer station and watched with fascination as the sand changed in consistency.

The younger children immersed themselves in imaginative play, preparing water for the dinosaurs and building swimming pools, and worked together to build a weighing scale to test their ideas.

Moments like this show how children’s ideas often become the starting point for new explorations. Together with the educators, the environment continues to evolve into a space full of possibilities and discoveries yet to come. ✨

National Day Celebration🇧🇳

Our children celebrated Brunei’s National Day through meaningful and joyful experiences. From sharing stories during circle time to exploring the colours of the Brunei flag through art, they learned about culture, traditions, and what it means to belong.

Familiar foods, family experiences, and conversations with friends, were all present as their curiosity grew. Children asked questions, shared proudly, and connected with one another.

🚒❤️ In preparation for their fire station visit, the children created a special gift for the firefighters — a book filled with their stories and drawings inspired by their firefighter play. Together, they reflected on what they had learned and excitedly shared their ideas during circle time.
