Hey! What about learning a language through a non-Eurocentric perspective of it? We teach Portuguese based on the concept of “Amefricanity” coined by Lélia Gonzalez a Brazilian philosopher. “Amefrica” is the idea of indigenous people from America together with the Black people trafficked from Africa to experience the domination of the white colonizer. Having this in consideration means we know the origins of Brazilian culture and how it has changed since the Portuguese has landed here. Most important we know how to relate every expect of our culture to historical events in our chronological timeline.
