🙌Yesterday, I had the pleasure of partnering with Nassau Cruise Port Ltd. , The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation , Disney Cruise Line , and University of The Bahamas to help inspire students from Junior Achievement as they begin charting the next steps in their careers.

It was an energizing discussion, and the panel shared advice that students can apply not only today, but throughout their future journeys.

A few key takeaways we shared:
• The magic starts with you — your attitude, effort, and willingness to grow matter.
• Be open to learning new skills and discovering talents you didn’t know you had.
• And when God gives you a yes, never let someone convince you to accept a no.

Conversations like these remind me how important it is to invest time in the next generation. The future workforce is already preparing and their potential is incredible.

What a difference a year makes. 365 days. 365 lessons.
Out of all the things I do, what excites me most is the opportunity to speak and engage with students and industry professionals. There is something deeply fulfilling about helping, inspiring, or guiding someone toward their dreams. That purpose is what makes getting out of bed meaningful, and 2025 truly set the stage for that work.

Before rushing into what’s next, take a moment to reflect on the opportunities you embraced, the barriers you broke, especially the ones within yourself, and the hope you helped build along the way.

I’m grateful not only for the opportunity to serve my community, but also for how much the journey shaped me.

2025 wasn’t about speed, it was about direction.

As we step into 2026, I’m carrying this forward with one guiding principle. Serve with intention. Lead with purpose.

In 2010, Leslie Lopez, Jr. received the call that changed everything: he had been awarded a Lyford Cay Foundations scholarship.

That “yes” launched him from culinary arts student to FIU Hospitality Management graduate, onward to a Master’s degree in HR, and into a career shaping people and performance at some of The Bahamas’ leading companies. Today, Leslie is an HR Manager with Disney Cruise Lines, a role he describes as the perfect alignment of his skills, values, and vision.

True to his promise to give back, Leslie continues to mentor young Bahamians, speak on career panels, and share the lessons of his own journey. His story shows how opportunity, dedication, and heart can transform not just a career, but an industry.

Today marks the final day of 2024. As I reflect, I’m deeply appreciative of the wonderful opportunities I experienced both personally and professionally this year.

Professionally, I was honored to be part of the opening of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. It was an incredible project, not only because I collaborated with talented individuals from across the globe but also because I connected job seekers with remarkable opportunities that could shape their futures.

Personally, this year brought incredible growth. I earned my RightPath Resources Certified Coach and Facilitator certification, allowing me to deepen my community engagement. I also had the privilege of speaking at the BSHRM conference on the topic “Unlocking Talent Access: Branding, Upskilling, and the 5B Strategy for Recruitment Success,” which was a fulfilling highlight of my HR journey.

This year has taught me that community is vital for success, whether in your professional endeavors or personal life. I’m profoundly grateful for everyone I’ve worked with, and for those who have contributed to making 2024 a year of growth and accomplishment.

As we step into 2025, I hope I’ve made a positive impact on you, just as so many of you have impacted me. Here’s to an incredible year ahead!
