Yoga is more than a class, it is a way of life! Author and Yoga Teacher

Donate to Together, we can help Cherline Heal, Walk and Teach again!, organized by Sherline Lazarre 20/03/2026

I know I rarely post these days, but I'm called to help a young mother, in dire medical need, and I pray you'd like to help too.

Cherline has bone cancer and has undergone extensive surgery on her legs. She has not been able to walk for many months.
She is 43, has 3 children, the youngest only 4 years old. I have known her husband for 10 years and he is a very hard working and skilled laborer at the ashram where I serve in the Bahamas. Ashrams are not a place one can make a lot of money, but it is a place that has spiritual energy and clean living. Wendol is a devout Christian.

He has exhausted all of their funds and has been living on charity as his family goes through this very difficult time. Cherline is a teacher who was suddenly sidelined from all normal life, relying on everyone to help her, as she struggles through this journey.
I've donated numerous times and know that Wendol and Cherline are so grateful for any support that anyone can provide. They have a GoFundMe if you would be so kind and generous to help out these people. They don't know people of means, and they are truly in need. Will you please help?

They need $20,000 as soon as possible so she can have radiation treatments at the hospital. Doctors say that these treatments are necessary and death is looming without them.

What's Possible?: Ayurvedic Odyssey: The Year Yoga Changed My Life (Roberts) 16/11/2025

🌿 When My Body Started Whispering… Then Shouting 🌿

I didn’t realize my body had been trying to warn me for years.

Before the ashram, I carried a long list of symptoms I brushed off:
• fatigue
• bloating
• joint pain
• dry skin
• poor sleep
• brain fog
• emotional overwhelm

I thought it was “just aging.”
I thought it was “normal.”
I thought it was “just who I am.”

But Ayurveda revealed a deeper truth:
✨ Symptoms are messages.
✨ Imbalances are invitations.
✨ The body always speaks - gently at first, then louder.

My body wasn’t malfunctioning.
It was communicating.
And when I finally slowed down… when I finally listened… everything changed.

✨ If your body has been whispering for a while… my book may help you hear what it’s trying to say.

What's Possible?: Ayurvedic Odyssey: The Year Yoga Changed My Life (Roberts) I am Mary Roberts (Padmavati). Discovering a different path at the age of 61, after a lifetime of traditional living was completely unexpected. My rather ordinary life journey became an unlikely adventure. My story began with a typical treadmill of life in our Western culture. Schooling, then car...

Today I want to share a few lines from my book, written during my documented year-long journey at the Ashram - a year when Yoga and Ayurveda deeply transformed my life :

“Ayurveda was teaching me that a balanced Pitta dominant is a sweet-natured, joyous, optimistic, energetic, creative leader who is flexible and open-minded and a pleasure to be around. Ayurveda also taught me that imbalances of Pitta-Vata sparked anger, hostility, self-criticism, irritability, impatience, and resentment and could result in outbursts of temper, argumentative stances (was certainly known for those!), criticism of others and intolerance. Using Yoga and Ayurveda to achieve balance so that my true nature of love, kindness and generosity would envelop me and the predominant picture was at the root of my “What’s Possible” quest.”

The full raw story of this journey - the insights, reflections, diary notes, and traditional practices of Yoga, Ayurveda, lifestyle and diet is shared in my book “What’s Possible?”. ✨

It’s when we want to practice the least, that we need to practice the most.

Yoga isn’t about perfection - it’s about stability. It frees the body and mind from chaos. It disciplines, calms, and softens us back into presence. When actions become chaotic - it’s no longer yoga, it’s just movement.

At first, every practice feels like effort.
The body resists, the mind argues.
But with regularity, calm arrives. The body stops producing stress, and that’s when growth begins. 🌱
So consistency is the key 🔑 Discipline is easier than chasing motivation.

I also vividly remember the words of a great Teacher from the Ashram - Swami Brahmananda: “Sadhana (spiritual practice) is a duty, and the duty must be done.” His wisdom and the quiet example of those who live it remind us of the way forward.

A path sometimes thorny, yet always profoundly beautiful. ✨

And as Swami Sivananda said so simply and truly: “An inch of practice is worth tons of theory.” 🧡

🌱 Transforming My Health, One Bite at a Time 🌱

For years, I struggled with unhealthy eating habits, leading the typical modern city lifestyle - think late nights, parties, and on-the-go meals - along with stress and the health issues that followed. Everything changed when I adopted a yogic lifestyle and began living in alignment with Ayurvedic principles.

Here’s a glimpse into my approach, from my book What’s Possible:

“My diet continued to be vegan, and 1/3 of my daily food intake was root vegetables—mostly beets and carrots, and also sweet potatoes. As I mentioned earlier in the book, root vegetables are liver cleansing to support overall detox from many years of inappropriate eating. This also supported KP’s prescription of a Vata-pacifying diet, with mostly warm cooked foods and minimal cold food or liquid. I continued to eat soups and rice or quinoa, with oatmeal and took fruit in the mornings for a mid-day snack.”

If you’re curious about my journey and want more tips, check out What’s Possible. I hope it inspires you—because if I can do it, so can you! 🙌

It’s very beneficial to do yoga every day but the real magic is in the willpower it builds. The more you show up, the stronger you become - not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. That’s where the true benefits begin. ✨
