𝗨𝗞 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘀𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘀𝘆𝗹𝘂𝗺 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀

The United Kingdom has announced that, with immediate effect, all nationals of Botswana will require a visa to enter the UK, including for short visits.

The move comes in response to a significant increase in the number of Botswana nationals entering the UK since 2022, many of whom have claimed asylum either upon arrival or shortly after entry a trend the UK government says constitutes misuse of its immigration system.

In a statement, the UK Foreign Secretary emphasized that the decision was not taken lightly and is aimed at ensuring the integrity of the UK’s immigration framework. “We continue to maintain strong and friendly relations with Botswana,” the statement read, adding that the UK government regularly reviews its visa and immigration policies to ensure they remain effective.

Botswana nationals planning to travel to the UK are advised to apply for the appropriate visa in advance.
