Botswana’s future will not be built by chance — it will be built by informed choices, empowered minds, and bold innovation.

Today, we introduce Mosupatsela — a homegrown, AI-powered platform designed to help students choose their careers with clarity and confidence. 🇧🇼

From discovering the right career path, to understanding subject requirements, to comparing courses and institutions — Mosupatsela brings instant, accessible guidance to every student, anywhere in Botswana.

But this is more than just an app.

This is a statement.

A statement that the transformation of our education and career development system must be driven by the BIUST Alumni Association — the very alumni our alma mater was established to produce. A generation entrusted with building a knowledge-based economy, powered by digitization, innovation, and purposeful leadership.

We believe:
- Technology should democratize opportunity
- Guidance should be accessible, not privileged
- And most importantly, human capital is Botswana’s greatest asset

Mosupatsela exists to unlock that asset — at scale.

As the BIUST Alumni Association, we are not just participating in the future…
We are engineering it.

I just Got Hired

Part II - Job Seeker

Everyone who feels their education is enough to get them their desired jobs is always on the look for an opportunity. But have you asked yourself, what I'm I looking for, where can I find it, how am I going to get there, what does it mean to get there? Answering all this question 1by1 as brief but meaningful as possible will build you a simple career plan. Let's talk about your love life 😁.

I guess by now, most of you had an encounter with a man seeking a relationship, or you are the man. Oh! Sometimes even a lady on you. What happens? First of all you'd be lying if you say she has always been the one, you just saw her, got interested on her and you are just about to tell that lie, but you'll testify how it all went down if you ever tried to say that lie to many girls at a go. Let me prophesy, you never got any one of them 😂. That's the case with your job seeking, focus on one job application at a time, give it all your best, until your part is done and while waiting for them, seek another opportunity and focus on it also. Take home, always make sure on all those opportunities you focus on similar posts or industry, for you to master the requirements of that and you'll eventually get your YES.

This for the ladies, so this guy comes to you, he hasn't bathed for days, can't even keep a conversation going, his head is down all the time, in short he has nothing to offer, I guess I don't have to ask you what you'll do. Nothing rude, but you won't keep it going. Now job seeking is a charming game, take it from there. You need to impress, take your best foot forward, let your CV and CL be the best -DEBTUM DO OFFER REVIEWS TO IMPRESS - PRICES START FROM P10.

It's very rare for a girl to show you she has interest. So are job posts. You need to keep searching until you find the one. In fact you need to start the spark to create an opportunity with a girl. Be strategically romantic, land a first date, until you make it🥰💑. Why not start the spark for your job opportunity too. Stop looking for job posts, create your job opportunity - DEBTUM HAS A PROGRAM TO CREATE JOB OPPORTUNITIES WITH YOU.

This is where the career plan gets in. We create career plans for our potential clients for FREE, enroll them into our program, and we start job seeking together.

Where were we with the girl my guy? Oh, you just landed you first date, who's going to pay 🤨. It's you, it's you my guy, you ain't ready? Then you should better stop. It's not actually a big deal whether you pay or not to her, it just shows your commitment to get together. So is your job seeking journey. Being able to pay P50 for a CV review, or P30 for a cover letter review, isn't about money, it's about showing commitment to you getting the job. Don't forget other guys are hitting on her too, so your commitment makes you stand out. Going an extra mile to make sure that your CV and cover letter are the best gets you closer to your dream job than your colleagues.

By the way, the job I got (follow part I for more), I created it, I put my best foot forward, I focused on my career plan, and I paid to get my documents reviewed by an expert to win that job. 💪💃🕺

I Just Got Hired

I graduated 2 months back, and like most graduates I hit the ground running, looking for employment opportunities. I got 4 opportunities in the first month, and another 2, the following month. How? Firstly, I did not start the applications after completing, I started immediately when my last semester began. Secondly, I had a career plan. The Career Plan, it's what we are going to focus on here.

When you get frustrated by unemployment, it is not different from any other need in life. You need to focus. I know there is popular belief, that you have to hit every door running and you should not be picky, I differ on that with everything I have and I can bet my life on it. I'll tell you why on part 2. Let's focus here first. How do you get to focus?

When I started my career plan, the first question was, what do I want to do in my life? I did not think of post-graduation, I though of "MY life". That's focus and you should start here. Who you are, what you want, what would fulfill you and what your contribution to this world could be. It's not easy to get that all figured out I know, but it's worthy it. Then translate that into a career path. If you want to be a professional speaker, and you have an engineering degree for example, look for an opportunity with a consultancy, do not go for a technical job, it won't help you in any way, then do short courses in trending career and personal development, start speaking to your colleagues now and then, build your reputation with your employer, expand to nearby offices, build a brand, and finally, you can quit your job and focus on your speaking career, that can pay you P1.5M annually on average. That's not the point though, I know most of you despise speaking, and that's why it's paying.

Translating you personal life ambitions into a career path takes 2 things. First, determine whether you want to be an entrepreneur, a job seeker or an academic. Its crucial. Though some people try to multitask, if you want to be the best candidate, choose 1 life path and stick to it. Yes you can start as an employee and do business as an 'exit strategy', but if you decide to do business just because you want to pay bills it's not business and you'll eventually fail. So, make that decision today. Secondly, map out a way from where you are today and what you have, to where you want to be and what you want in life. The second part of this series will focus on job seeking; third part on entrepreneurship; and forth part on an academic path, and last part will be a surprise special.

By the way I'm serious, I got hired. I'll tell you how, and what each of the 6 opportunities translated into on the next part😁. It's gonna be interesting. Stick around and invite your friends to Debtum too.
