Middle school and/or junior high can feel overwhelming, especially for students with Learning Disabilities (like Dyslexia) and/or ADHD. New teachers, heavier workloads, and bigger social circles can be a lot to navigate, but the right support makes all the difference.

Led by a Foothills Academy provisional psychologist, Survive & Thrive in Jr. High explores topics such as:
- Study skills, time management & organization
- Social skills, friendships & peer relationships
- Being safe: Dealing with bullying/cyberbullying and internet safety
- Dealing with adolescence (self-esteem, body changes & hygiene)

Program runs August 17 - August 21 with both morning and afternoon sessions available ( 9 AM-12 PM or 1 PM-4 PM)

Bursaries are available on a sliding scale based on family income and individual needs, helping make our psychology programs accessible and inclusive.

We’re Hiring!

Foothills Academy Society is looking for a passionate, full-time Grade 6 STEM Teacher (Science & Math) for the 2026/2027 school year.

In this role, you will support students academically, socially, and emotionally while working closely with Educational Assistants and a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will use evidence-informed teaching practices and individualized supports to help students with Learning Disabilities build confidence and reach their full potential.

What you’ll bring to the role:
-Alberta Education teaching certification
-A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Proficient in current educational technologies for teaching, assessing, recording and reporting
-The ability to collaborate in a dynamic, fast-paced multidisciplinary team
-Experience supporting students with Learning Disabilities (an asset)
-A commitment to professional practice and continuous growth

The Foothills Staff Pickleball Team wrapped up an incredible year!

Thank you to everyone who played, supported, and helped make this season so much fun. We had a fantastic year filled with great competition, teamwork, and plenty of laughs.

Keep playing over the summer break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the courts next season!

Today, we enjoyed our annual Staff Appreciation Lunch hosted by FAPA as a way to thank all staff for their hard work and dedication before heading off for the summer. The event featured delicious food and fun activities, including custom caricatures, a mocktail drink station and plants for everyone to take home. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and show appreciation for our amazing staff.
