✨ September Openings Available! ✨

I currently have 2 spaces available in my Evolve Montessori Preschool & Day Home beginning September 2026.

At Evolve Montessori, children learn in a warm, nurturing environment guided by a certified Montessori teacher. Our days are filled with hands-on learning, meaningful work, and daily outdoor play.

Evolve Montessori is not your typical Montessori program. While we stay true to the core principles of Montessori education, we also place a strong emphasis on outdoor play, risky play, real-life experiences, animal care, relationships, and fostering a genuine love of learning. Our goal is to support the development of the whole child while preserving the magic of childhood.

💕 About Me

I'm Jenna, a Montessori teacher, Child Development Leader, Alberta Level 3 Early Childhood Educator, and owner of Evolve Montessori. Math in a way that truly makes sense 💗
I’m always looking for hands on ways to expand math in my classroom, and this educational game has been such a hit! What I love most is how beautifully it aligns with Montessori philosophy by introducing the symbol and quantity separately first, allowing children to build true understanding, before bringing them together. This creates such a concrete, meaningful foundation for early math skills.

Engaging, interactive, and so much fun for little learners ✨

This just got real.

The Calgary Herald has officially covered what’s happening with Alberta’s changes to professional development funding for early childhood educators… and we are part of the conversation.

This matters more than people realize.
These changes will limit where educators can learn, what perspectives they can access, and how we support children in our care especially when it comes to inclusion, early literacy, and diverse learning approaches.

And we cannot stay quiet about it.

If you haven’t read the article yet, message me and I’ll send it directly to you.

Then PLEASE
go to the Calgary Herald article
and leave a comment showing your support.
Media attention only matters if people engage with it.

Because when educators lose access to meaningful learning, children lose too.

Educators should have professional autonomy to choose how they learn and grow.

But starting April 1, Alberta is restricting how early childhood educators can use their professional development funding, limiting training to a very small list of approved providers.

This means fewer opportunities to learn about inclusion, early literacy, Montessori approaches, and other research based practices that help educators support diverse learners.
When educators lose learning opportunities, children lose too.

We’ve had Sneaky Elves out in our classroom for just over a week and it has quickly become a favourite.

Children pick a word card, find the matching pop-it, pop each sound, and blend the word together.
A playful, hands-on way to practice CVC words, phonemic awareness, and early reading.

I love finding materials that truly support how children learn, and my students absolutely love this one.

I yell at kids...

Before you unfollow me, let me explain.

The only time I yell is when there is immediate danger.

When a child is about to run out in front of a car or push another child off a play structure

When safety is on the line.

In those moments, my job is protection. Not tone. Not perfect regulation. Protection.

Yelling is an alarm system.

But outside of danger?

No.

I do not yell to control behaviour.

Because yelling as discipline teaches fear, not skills.

Children learn calm from calm.

They learn safety from consistency.

So yes, I yell at kids.

When seconds matter.

The rest of the time?

I connect.

I teach.

I hold the boundary without raising my voice.

There is a place for yelling.

It is called danger.

Everything else is teaching!
