Rolling on a summer evening.
is one of those QBs that just gets more smooth the more you let him move.

POV: Me just being a fan!

I spend 99% of my coaching time assessing, correcting, educating and demonstrating, and I love it.
But toward the end of most sessions I get to sit back and just enjoy the progress.

There are a lot of QBs and QB-adjacent people following this page.
I don’t know how many of you have ever been able to be this close to a pro QB who throws the ball as well as Nathan Rourke but I figured some of you would enjoy this.
It’s not quite the same as being there, but why don’t you reach out and maybe you can join us sometime soon.

Stop leaving $$ on the table.

If you’re not ‘finding’ your back hip before initiating your hitches and your throws you’re missing one of the easiest opportunities to generate power and maximize control.

A stable, balanced, loaded hip on all transitions and throws will make this whole process so much easier and more efficient for you.
This is why the QBsmpl and QBmobl programs emphasize single leg, deep-hip function.

Space Helmet Drill

Many QBs sacrifice throwing efficiency by allowing their elbow joint to collapse inward and the ball to fall behind their head as they transition from the load position to the launch phase.

I refer to this habit as ‘wrapping’ the arm around the head, and it results in a very short lever arm that doesn’t optimally whip the ball.

In a session with Nathan Rourke this afternoon we revisited the importance of elbow joint and lever arm integrity through this transitional moment in the armpath.

The most effective cue that I’ve come up with over the last decade is to imagine you’re wearing a space helmet, and the arm and ball must load TO the side of the space helmet, then swing AROUND this imaginary helmet (maintaining a roughly 85-90° angle inside the elbow joint) until the arm extends toward release.

This is how you do this drill!

I’ve shared numerous variations of how to set up and execute the Window Drill using soccer goals, pop up bags, etc.

The purpose is simple… calibration of release timing, ball velocity and distance to the angle and running velocity of a receiver that is approaching a very tight target window.

Beau Pribula nails it💥 with excellent mechanics.

It’s my mission this month.

I just came back from a trip across the continent where I ran a high level ID camp session for QBs, worked with numerous D1 QBs and consulted with multiple elite coaches.

THE FRONT ARM IS A PROBLEM!

Don’t “Clear the cobwebs” or “Elbow your little brother” or “Eat a sandwich”

Don’t pat, or push, or ride, or flip the ball.

Do nothing with it.
That’s correct.
Do NOTHING with your front arm and hand.
It holds the ball in prepass, then does NOTHING.
The less it does, the better your throwing arm mechanics will be.
Imagine it’s made of peanut butter.
It holds the ball and does NOTHING.
I repeat, for your benefit, NOTHING.
Try it.
I know you’ll thank me later.
Nathan Rourke

I see a lot of QBs.
I see very, very few 16yr olds who are as crisp with it as

Thanks to Benjamin Falkowsky and Sebastian for the hands today.

Over-Under Reaction Drill

Simple drill, but the subtleties of the drop and throws are important.
By dropping efficiently and establishing a stable transition position at the top of the drop Harrison Hyndman is easily able to react and respond to the different timing and throw trajectory requirements of the route choice by Sebastian
A QB who is off-balance or in a quad-biased, toe-loaded position at the top of the drop will struggle to react and adjust the throw, hitch or pocket movement necessary in unpredictable situations.

A trip to the east coast wouldn’t be complete without a stellar throwing session with my guy Ty Ciongoli of Princeton Tigers Football
This lefty can SLING IT! 💪🏼
