National Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. For many generations, First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis communities have marked this time by honouring and sharing their cultures, languages, and traditions. The summer solstice carries profound cultural and spiritual meaning for many Indigenous Peoples, symbolizing renewal, connection to community and the land, and a time of celebration. π
