Not every student and tutor are each other's cup of tea. But every once in a while, you find the perfect blend. ☕

Tutoring isn't just about teaching a subject.

It's about relationships.

When a student feels comfortable enough to say, "I still don't get it," and a tutor understands how that student learns best, something special happens.

Confidence grows.Learning becomes less stressful.Progress feels possible.

Finding the right tutor isn't about finding the most qualified person on paper.

It's about finding someone whose teaching style, personality, and approach click with the student.

Have you ever had a coach who was just the right fit?

One of the funniest things that happens during tutoring:

I’ll be explaining a concept, building up to an idea step by step, and I can see a student holding onto a question.

They wait patiently for me to stop talking.

The moment I finish, they ask:

“But how do I know when to do that?”

My response?

“Everything I just said for the last minute was the answer to that question.” 😆

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t talk because I love the sound of my own voice.

I’m actually handing out gold.

Sometimes the answer isn’t in the final sentence. Sometimes it’s hidden in the reasoning, the pattern, the clues, and the thought process that lead up to it.

Final exams are coming, and it’s crunch time.

One thing I’ve noticed lately:

Many students are starting to understand how to approach the more complex questions.

They’re identifying the right strategies, setting up solutions correctly, and making connections between concepts.

But then they lose marks on the simple calculations.

The challenge isn’t always the difficult math. Sometimes it’s rushing through the basics.

A few reminders for test day:

✔️ Have a small bite of your favourite treat to get your brain going.
✔️ Take your time.
✔️ Read the question carefully.
✔️ Double-check your calculations.
✔️ Trust the work you’ve put in.

Most importantly, remember that confidence comes from preparation, not perfection.

You’ve learned more than you think.

You’ve got this.

Pretty much most math school levels should know the number set. Not all need the last 2 rows.

Happy studying.

One of my favourite things to show students in math is this:

You can arrive at the same answer in different ways.

Today I simplified the same algebraic expression using two approaches:

• one method used the difference of squares
• the other expanded everything first and simplified afterward

Different paths.
Same destination.

And that’s an important lesson for students.

Math is not always about memorizing one “correct” method.
It’s about understanding the relationships and choosing an approach that makes sense to you.

Sometimes one strategy is faster.
Sometimes another helps you see the structure more clearly.

The goal isn’t just getting the answer.
It’s developing flexible thinking and confidence in problem solving.

That’s a big part of what I try to teach my students: understanding over shortcuts.

Student: “Why can’t I just plug in numbers to prove it?”

Me: “Because we’re trying to prove it works for all possibilities… not just your favourite number.” 😄

Plugging in one value only proves it works for that value.

This is one of the biggest mindset shifts in math.

Students start out very attached to numbers.

But as they move further along in mathematics, letters start taking over.

And honestly? Many students resist that transition at first.

“But why do we need letters?!”

Because letters let us talk about every number at once.

And if you’ve ever wondered why my business is called Math “For All”… this is exactly why.

There comes a point where students realize variables aren’t there to make math harder.

They’re there to make math universal.

📐 It’s Just a Distance and Slope Question.

One of the biggest challenges students face in geometry isn’t the formulas themselves.

It’s knowing where to start.

In this video, I walk through a question asking students to prove that a quadrilateral is an isosceles trapezoid.

Once students understand what the properties actually mean, and how topics connect together, the process becomes much clearer.

This is exactly the kind of step-by-step thinking I focus on in my math course:

✔️ Understanding before memorizing
✔️ Connecting concepts together
✔️ Building confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently
