Hi there! I’m Izzy, an international student from Brazil 🇧🇷 and currently studying Game Design at Conestoga College 🎓

Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved video games. As someone who tended to play it safe in real life, games gave me the space to be adventurous and explore new worlds.

For a long time, I followed more traditional career paths because they felt familiar—but something never quite fit. It took me a while to realize that what truly excites me and brings me joy is creating video games.

In August 2025, I took a leap and started my biggest real-life adventure: studying Game Design in Canada at Conestoga. Like any good journey, it’s had its highs and lows—but through it all, I’ve learned so much about myself, about the craft, and how to bring my own perspective into the games I create.

It’s been an incredible experience so far, and I’m excited to share more of my journey with you 😊 Cheers!

🎮 From studying games to creating them—here’s Nikita’s journey at Conestoga.

Hello! I’m Nikita from Russia 🇷🇺

Moving to Canada to study was both exciting and challenging. Relocating to a new country—and continent—comes with its share of stress, but Conestoga played a key role in helping me adapt. The professors were not only highly knowledgeable but also genuinely supportive and approachable. Their guidance, along with the help of the International Office and Counselling Services, made it much easier to navigate paperwork and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

I chose Conestoga for its strong focus on applied learning. With a background in cultural game theory, I understood games academically—but I wanted to create them. The Game Design program gave me that opportunity. For my capstone project, I combined my academic background with hands-on skills to develop an experimental game exploring philosophy and psychology through creative puzzle-solving.

Beyond game development, I also expanded my business skills through the Conestoga Entrepreneurship Collective. This blend of industry-focused learning and business support has complemented my previous studies in a truly meaningful way.

I’m proud of how far I’ve come—and it’s incredible to now be able to both understand and create games.

Hi, I’m Michelle, an international student at Conestoga College and also a mother.

I come from China 🇨🇳 and came to Canada with my daughter, originally to support her education and be closer to her learning environment. Along the way, I found my own path and became a student again. I started my studies at Conestoga College through an ESL program, where I learned not only the language but also Canadian history and culture. This helped me better understand and appreciate the country I am living in.

I am currently studying Educational Support, and I also have opportunities to do field placements in schools. It has been both exciting and a little nerve-wracking at times, but it is a very meaningful part of my learning experience. During my placement, a student with special needs made a small blue clay figure and said it was me, which became a simple but meaningful moment for me.

After coming to Conestoga, I slowly began to experience a quiet shift in myself. I started to rediscover interests and strengths that I had put aside for a long time, and to see new possibilities in my own path. I’m still on this journey, but I feel grateful to be learning, growing, and moving forward step by step ~！😊 🌏🎓📚
