What does it really take to make ends meet?

The Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. team recently took part in a Day of Caring, beginning with food portioning for families supported by Food4Kids Waterloo Region.

They then participated in United Way Waterloo Region’s Make the Month simulation, gaining insight into the realities of food insecurity, financial hardship, and the challenges many families face every day, and then spent their afternoon volunteering alongside ARGUS Residence.

Thank you, TMMC, for taking the time to learn, give back, and make a difference in our community.

Happy National Public Service Week!

Thank you to the public service employees who help communities thrive across Canada.

Financial hardship is deepening and affecting more people than ever.

A new survey from United Way Centraide Canada and Leger shows that 53% of people describe their financial situation as “OK” or worse, meaning they are just getting by or already struggling.

Among them:
• 27% say their situation has worsened in the past six months
• 24% expect it to get worse

The findings underscore the important role of United Way and our work in providing immediate relief to community needs and tackling the tough social issues at the root of these needs.
