Our Story
In September 2005, La Garderie CREFL became the first francophone daycare in Lethbridge, opening with 16 children aged 3 to 5 years. We have now expanded our program to offer care to 26 children ages 12 months to 5 years old.
In January of 2009 we completed the necessary requirements for our centre to become accredited by the Alberta government and after a two day site visit we were granted accreditation status in February of 2009. Our program offers an educational environment in which children can learn and grow while at the same time having fun and embracing the French language.
We at La Garderie CREFL believe that children need the opportunity to develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, creatively and socially, through play within the francophone community. We also believe that children learn best when they are in a safe and nurturing environment. Children will be given the opportunity to choose from a variety of play centres based on their particular interests. Examples of these centres would be; water, sand, dramatic play, art, manipulative, blocks, music and literacy. We encourage parents and caregivers to communicate with each other on a daily basis to help meet the needs of both the children and their families.
