A study on healthy older adults showed that those with musical experience of 10+ years scored higher on cognitive tests compared to those with less than 10 years of experience as well as non-musicians!
Back when I had to study at those late hours in the night, preparing for an exam that often times felt like the end of the world. I always had background music playing whenever I would study, specifically classical music as often times, it helped me remember the material more. Professors often encouraged students to practice this habit as well.
