MEET THE TEACHERS! Joe Jatcko (Program Director)
Joe has been developing arts-based youth programs for over 10 years. He was leading an otherwise ordinary life until he went to the theater one night and saw a play that changed his life forever. He made it his mission to make the kinds of plays that would change the lives of others, particularly young people. He wrote and directed his first children’s show, Mustache the Musical and has been hooked ever since. In collaboration with the Chain Theatre’s leadership team, Joe oversees the Chain Links program and spearheads the Story Lab curriculum. When he’s not doing that, he’s writing surreal satires, dreamy dramedies, and symphonic space operas.

Our after school classes not only teach performance skills, but also seek to unlock our students' creativity by allowing them the space to author their own stories for the stage. You won’t see Mary Poppins or Peter Pan, and almost certainly no princesses will be asked to kiss any frogs during our end-of-term performances. These will be 100% original student-generated works, made under the guidance of our talented teaching artist. Our kids are the most creative people we know—now they have a stage to tell their stories!
