🎓Congratulations to DMD graduate Erica Smenderovac, named valedictorian for the Health Sciences ‘A’ convocation ceremony.
Erica credits the mentorship of faculty members and the strong friendships she built throughout her studies for shaping her exceptional journey. "I would not have graduated as the clinician and, most importantly, the person I am, without them.”

The 2026 McGill Dental Research Day and Clinical Symposium 2026 took place on March 30 at the McGill Faculty Club and Conference Centre. With over 300 participants, it showcased the innovative research conducted by students, residents, and postdocs in the Faculty. The day was marked by a series of engaging oral presentations and short talks, as well as keynote speakers and guest lectures.

The Faculty’s diverse mission of dental medicine education and training, and researchers from some fields not traditionally associated with dental sciences, led the organization committee to expand this year's edition to encompass clinical practice. “A great Dental Medicine and Oral Heath Sciences faculty depends on both outstanding clinicians and dedicated researchers, and the research day and clinical symposium beautifully brings these two pillars together” says Faleh Tamimi, Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education.

As we count down to the Faculty's Spring convocation on May 26, 100 years ago the McGill Dentistry Class of 1926 walked across the stage to receive their diplomas and join the dental profession. The class included the first woman to graduate from Dentistry at McGill, Dr. Florence A. Johnston. Their tools were simpler and their world very different, but their commitment to improving oral health laid the foundation for everything we do today.

Here’s to honoring where we’ve come from and to the exciting future ahead for the Class of 2026! 🎓
